Perhaps it's time to take the video down, I got one recently and bought a Blackadder recommended panel but Tuya blocked ADB access and there seems to be no remedy. It would have saved me 140,- EUR. After I opened the unit there is no returning unfortunately. Sorry for putting this out negative but a warning to all people who like to have an all in one solution should look into other options.

did you try to do a factory reset? In first, my "ewelink ckPanel Pro" wanted me to do an update... after that it was locked too. I factory-resetted, ignored the firmware-update, registered the device via the ewelink app. after that on my smartphone-app i was able to activate the developer functions.

I’ve done exactly this - but 3D printed an angled base, and use it as a desk-panel command centre at my main desk. It’s a lot of work to get them set up, but leads to a fantastic output! I love idea of creating a separate Home Assistant user, which is then tied to a specific dashboard (which is what I did).

I love the look of the panels and agree that they make things look so futuristic and are extremely flexible as you can display whatever suits! Nice to see there are other options aside from the Sonoff NSPanel Pro if Android is desired. I’m currently using a couple of Sonoff NSPanels (non pro flashed with ESPHome) which work well where im using them and in other locations im actually using Xiaomi Redmi 7 Android phones that i have hooked up to the mains in one way or another, flashed with LineageOS to remove the Xiaomi bloatware and tracking, then use Fully Kiosk Browser to display custom HA dashboards :)

I have gone a slightly different route and use panels with esp32s flashed with a very nice piece of software openhasp. This gives you an mqtt based wall panel that can be used with not only homeassistant but other automation software. This firmware can be flashed on a sister of the panel shown in this video the t3e. We also cant forget the original nspanel that has become very accessible through the blueprint project It's great that we now live in a day where there are multiple wall panel solutions Nicely explained video Alan!

Amazing video, but I do have a question: what is the gain compare to to using some cheap Android tablets, install Kiosk & proximity sensor automation? I can see only the plain differences (fit on standard power outlet VS "hanging" tablet, the need for a USB adapter instead of L/N wires). And you'd get battery in case of power outage

I have just purchased the Zemismart device via the link on your article. On disassembly it looks like the blackadder photos, the PCB is printed as SY-PX30-T6E-V1.0 2021-07-09. When plugged in the device manager shows it under the USB Devices as 'AURA LED CONTROLLER' with the driver being WinUSB. If I force a driver update to the google ADB USB drivers it then appears at the top of the device manager as an Android Composite Device but the first adb devices -1 command still do not list any connected devices. Feel like I've been scammed.

It's cool but I'd also call it a gimmick. If is faster doing something, like turn on the lights, physically, then the automation/device don't work. If its faster to lookup the dashboard on my phone, then is better to use the phone. I guess the only most usefull way I can come up with (for me), is a panel alarm right by the entrance.

I have a love / hate relationship with wall panels and the like. I figure if something happens regularly, there should be a way to automate it and not use a panel. That said, I can see a use for them when unusual things happen. OpenHASP, HASwitchplate, whatever version you look at, is designed to be custom, mostly running via MQTT and is great as small touch switch/panel, but is not the same as a full Home Assistant dashboard. Maybe someone clever from will write a full firmware update for those Tuya panels to upgrade the Android version, but if you limit it to only accessing Home Assistant for the dashboard and don't allow it on the internet it should stay safe.

Oh well no good for me or most UK houses since it doesn’t work without neutral… your house is the exception
@HomeAutomationGuy

Yeh, luckily my house was built fairly recently and included neutral wires. My old house definitely didn't have any! You could run a feed cable from an existing power socket up the wall to about chest height and install it that way.

@@HomeAutomationGuy neutral wires are still rare in new build, mine was built in 2021 and has no neutral wires. I guess it’s important to note this in your videos for those UK viewers as it’s an important one and one that blights the products that can be added to our smart homes here in the UK

I don't like to mess around with mains voltage electricity myself. Mistakes can be made and bad things happen so I leave it to the experts most of the time!

230v hits really hard. It's no joke. Also, in the UK, you would need a license.

This has absolutely nothing to do with home automation. When the alarm goes off the guy is turning on the lights, opening the blinds all by hand. Proper Home automation is when this all happens, under the right conditions automatically without you ever having to touch a button

its more effort to lean over, touch the screen and start faffing about with settings than just stepping out of bed and pulling the blind cord.

Dead in the water :( Just received my T6E smart panel and see it has a different display back, and opening a totally different PCB layout and version TPP01-Z_V1.0.4. I can connect using ADB which reports the device as a "10011471800262 device product:occam model:Nexus_4 device:mako transport_id:3" But can't go further when sending the command adb shell setprop persist.adb.tcp.port 5555 Reports back with "error: closed" Seems @pvg5559 has had too... Any help on this or a total waste of money :(
