Lovely! I am pleasantly surprised at how well the steering works. The big problem with using an axle with differential for the steering mechanism is that when you apply full brakes to one side, the opposite wheel spins at double the speed. Your video makes it look as if this is not a problem as your vehicle appears to turn just fine. Thanks!

Tubodiesel could drive hydraulic motors. Or a single hydraulic motor on the drive shaft, and then brakes to steer. I really like the cabover look to this rig.
@alwaystinkering77109 жыл бұрын
Kevin Hornbuckle A single hydraulic motor to the diff might be very slow. They don't spin fast and the diff will lower it further by about 3 to 1. You could rip out trees with it but it would only go 5 mph. I agree I like the look and great for snow because it can be heated.

Fantastic machine. Top speed looks good. Steering, tracks, good. Diesel, good. I would like to see it outfitted with a power angle plow. As such, It'd be the perfect vehicle for plowing my driveway, and grooming snowmobile trails. I'd be interested to know where the tracks came from, how much it weighs, and what the build cost was.

The diff is just orginal dana 30, from a volvo. nothing special, people say steering by braking is bad, but as you can see in the movie it works just fine. maby need to do a new movie soon. now the engine will be av much bigger mercedes 250td and higher topspeed :)
@gbzhemn111 жыл бұрын
People are dumb, and much worse - dull. Steering by braking is the shit! It's so much more fun, and provides unmatched control in very tight spaces just for instance. Good luck with that new engine! Bonnvischan Racing now officially has a new fan! You guys seem like you are having a lot of fun :-)

@:04 it looks like there is a tractor tire with the sidewall cutout. Is that what you tried for tracks 1st? No luck? The cutting-brake diff steer seems to work great. I also don't know why people hate on it. Some say it wears out the diff too fast. You can't ZTR. Big deal, its practically free. Its probably trolls in the hydraulic and specialty drivetrain business. Of course you do have to add a manual locker if you want full traction, which are expensive and not super reliable.
@alwaystinkering77109 жыл бұрын
OpenSource Citizen I agree, it's simple, less expensive, less to go wrong, and it works well. I wouldn't even consider a locker- not worth it. That would wear out fast and if one side slips, just apply some steering brake.
