3 String License Plate Guitar

Here's how I made a 3 string cigar box style guitar, with a license plate top. The top acts as a resonator. It sounds great and was fun to build.

Very nice guitar! The build quality and the detail make this a really nice project. I've started making my first car tag guitar out of 1x4's. Have no way to cut them in half. Looks like it's going to weigh about 75 pounds. Sheesh. Maybe somebody will buy it & use it for a 3-string music-exercise video.

Nice job! Beautiful maple. They do have a resonator quality to them. I built a 6 string with a humbucker...wow, does it sound good!

only ONE thing ... thinner sound is usally at the bridge and the fuller sound is on the neck pickup so you got it the other way around ;) Beatiful build thou :)

and... the piezo pickups works of vibrations so if you mounted a pickup to the top you'd get a fuller sound probably

I was hopeful but there was no talk about the technical specs or technical assembly. What kind of switch? How is it wired? What resistance on the potentiometer?

I used CTS 250K Pots. Its wired just as you would wire a 3 way switch for a 2 pickup configuration.

I woodwork but what is a kit you would suggest that would come with all parts needed? Do you have a template for your neck pattern? Checked your website and only found grommet template

hi; how do you détermine the neck lenght ?

You need to determine where on the body you want to bridge to sit. Then measure out your scale length, then add the length of the headstock.

Try not to use fingers leveling the glue. Fingers therefore skin contains fat which does not contribute to desired cohesive effect.
