I seriously enjoyed the overall premise of this series, that of the US being invaded and occupied by a totalitarian enemy. However, both the gameplay and narrative of the two games were significantly flawed. Even though the 2nd game featured superior controls and intriguing mechanics such as swapping in and out various pieces of your AR-15 styled assault rifle which can turn it into either a light machine gun or even a grenade launcher(If I can recall, haven’t played the sequel in a long time). But despite all those great ideas & mechanics I have to say it, really? The fucking Hermit Kingdom of all of America’s foes? The same North Korea that is still using PPSH-41s and AKMs alongside equipment, vehicles, and uniforms that are well over 70 years old and lack almost any serious technological upgrades that we and most other nations have had since that time? Using some ridiculous “Oh! They found this random new precious mineral that makes North Korea a technological powerhouse!” excuse as background context is nonsensical to me. The People’s Republic of China would’ve been a much better foe as an invader as it’s more realistic, with the PLA actually having the technological capability of invading or, at the very least, engaging U.S Forces on American soil. Not to mention the fact that the PRC is an authoritarian/going onto totalitarian hellhole where the government knows all about your personal information and can make you “disappear” should you ever criticize or organize peacefully against it. They would have been the perfect antagonist for Homefront!

Yeah, the only thing NK has got going for them is their shitty "display of force" propaganda videos where it's just them smashing their heads against bricks and doing manly shirtless (and totally not gay) pushups with the homies. Good luck smashing fake bricks, now go try that with actual bullets.

Also I'm coming back to say this but they actually were going to have the PLA as the main antagonist but unfortunately they got a case of Chinese dick-sucking so they had to change it up to North Korea.

The biggest complaint is that he's too action-hero and all of his lines try so hard to make him sound like he's badass when it's actually pretty cheesy. Such as when he says that we can't go back now after we killed a NK soldier like mf these guys are oppressing and brutalizing us everyday plus they were literally about to execute us or send us to a "re-education" camp at the beginning, what makes you think I desperately want to go back?
