Awesome review! My door doesn't have a handle from the outside, just the key that controls the deadbolt and then an extra half-turn opens the latch. So can the linus open the latch for me just like the Nuki can? Speaking of Nuki, which one do you prefer, Nuki or Linus?

I’ve been using it for six months. I’m not sure what sort of lock I have. It’s on a Hormann door and mine doesn’t need a lift handle to engage all the locks. I agree with your review. You mentioned that you were not able to test the autolock option because you have to raise the door handle in order to lock your door. I have the same situation. Question 1: If I automatically raise the door handle each time I go out of my house or enter the house, would that make the autolock option work? Question 2: I read multiple comments on the Google play store that people were having problems with the lock not automatically connecting to the phone’s bluetooth when approaching the door or going away from the door when leaving the house, so the autolock functionality didn’t work properly for them. Did you experience any similar issues? Since the autolock option is the main reason that I am considering on buying this lock I would expect it to work flawlessly. Great review by the way! Keep up the good work!

@@HomeKitAuthority True, also wayyyy stronger motor (My door having some resistance, and the Nuki used to get stuck 60% of the times, not happens with Linus). Overall, after around 5 months of use (Like you haha) I can tell that the only drawback of it is the Bluetooth connection which is slow. I wish it has ZigBee or Thread support. BTW, Now I have 2 Linus locks as I have 2 doors to my house, and for a while I used the Danalock V3 Zigbee version, and its noise (which is better than the Nuki but worse than the Linus) and its bad auto unlock, did pushed me to replace it with another Linus.

Great review as always, I’ve had the Linus/keypad/connect set up installed for about 6 weeks now myself and very impressed. What I particularly like is as this only sits on the inside it does not change the look of the door from the outside. I do also have the pin pad as back up but it’s TINY and well hidden at the bottom corner of the door. I would absolutely recommend ALWAYS getting the cylinder with it, it’s £35 and fits so much nicer. The auto-unlock on approach works really well, you generally hear the ping just as you get about 3 ft from the door. I also have a multipoint door and once you’re in the habit of lifting the handle the auto unlock works fine. (Yes I forgot once in the beginning and it failed) One future thing I’d love to see is more integration to Apple CarPlay, wouldn’t it be great if an unlock button popped up on your screen as you parked up?

How to open the door from outside I saw people showing only when they are inside the home not how to open from outside
@Dreador.2 жыл бұрын
I ordered one but then sent it back for two reasons First security - For me and this won't be for all, I have no letter box so have no risk when leaving key in the inside door so that adds a level of security as its harder to pick or use a lost key to open due to how euro locks work - Plus the ABS lock I have is higher rated so I would decrease security on two counts for benefit of smarts which leads onto smart functionality Smart Limitation - Due to a lot of us using multi point locking in UK, this means its only good for opening the door thus only 50% smart - Ideally Id use the smarts to lock to door after closing or a routine to check if door unlocked and relock for instance neither of which are possible due to multi point requirement of lifting handle. In all honesty I think Yale need better competition in this arena as they seem to never get these things quite right, or want to create pay walls within product, aka just like it was with alarms until the likes of Ring and the like turned up they happily carried on treading water in product offerings.

I wish the keypad would be smart enough to tell the lock to pull the latch even if the door isn't locked. I always have to lock the door by pressing the "yale" button then unlock it with my code. I have set auto lock to 2 minutes so that's fine most of the time. But when you forget something, then you have to do the lock/unlock dance. Also, what good is it to have a door sensor if the lock doesn't use it when autolocking? If I leave the door wide open for more than 2 minutes then the auto lock kicks in completely ignoring that the door is opened....
@defnej3 жыл бұрын
I must be the only person unhappy with this lock. When I try to come home the lock is constantly jammed and I have to either take out the normal key or pull hard towards myself and then it opens. Also, twice the lock has unlocked without my permission and there's no record of that on the app. I was sitting in the living room on my computer when I heard the door unlock. I couldn't check on it immediately because I was in a conference call online however, when it was finished I was shocked to find the door ajar.

Sorry, That design is a deal killer. Looks clunky (very 1980s). The Homekit interface seems clunky with far too slow of a response. I'll be waiting for a more elegant design that responds quickly in HomeKit. I suspect those batteries won't last the full 5 or 6 months, and having to change them is just more scheduled fiddling that I just don't like doing. I have EVE door sensors and those battery replacements are always annoying and they don't last nearly as long as Eve claims. We all want to use Homekit where-ever possible to make life simpler, but tech for tech sake doesn't cut it. If I can do it with a key faster, they've failed as a homekit product. No thread either? really? No sale.
