Psychopaths are smarter then that. They are cunning, obsessed with whatever catches their interest and can play a role better then most professional actors if needed. For extended amounts of time. Homelander is none of the above, although you could argue his acting in front of the public isn't bad, but he only keeps it up for the cameras. They both came from a dysfunctional upbringing. Billy’s father abused him to make him stronger and Dr. Vogelbeuam experimented on John to be the strongest man in the world. Through all their pain and misery they both looked to a mother figure. Butcher looked to Mallory, Homelander looked to Stilwell. They both just seeked approval from them. A new person comes into their team. Hughie. Starlight. They are welcomed in with kindness at first but once the two enter a relationship things change. Butcher questions Hugh’s loyalty, Homelander threatens to kill Starlight for being involved with an enemy. The writing is absolutely superb 👌 and the rivalry between these two is so fascinating to watch.

I love that he didnt say he *couldnt* do 123 trips, it just sounded like he didnt want to. He could have flown outside the plane, lasered the wings off, grabbed the tail and lowered it to the ground. He could have had everyone move toward the back of the plane, lasered the front part off, grabbed the second part and lowered it to the ground
@siemniak

would make sense only if grabing a plane would not tear it apart completely. But other than that good idea. Lasering wings off would kill any lift to the plane which means nose would go down right away and the rest of a plane would tear apart from speed. jumping people out of a plane would take a lot of time impossible to do with 123 people beside nobody would jump out safely because there is an enourmous risk of hitting the plane itself. But let's say he made somebody jump out succesfully. Now he has to grap this person in the air and slowly decrease speed before hitting water oh, and also hope a person can swim. Now he only needs to do it 122 times, and plane gets furter away with every person he does it. and of course it would fall down before he would be able to save first one, so another great idea. Homelander was right there was literally nothing he could do. Save two people maybe or three that's all.

@@siemniak He could do the Iron man 3 chain of people thing - he could have gone underneath the plane and flown up (this may not "lift the plane" but it would surely help slow the plane down for a survivable crash landing) - He could have had everyone put their floatation devices on, pair up in groups of 8 and take them down one group at a time. (one person grasping onto each of his legs, one person on each arm, one person around his neck, one person around his waist and he grips 1 floatation device in each hand. he does this 15 times and everyone's saved.) or I still think if everyone got into the rear of the plane, he lasers off the front part and flies towards it as hard as he can to slow down the speed of descent (if he can fly faster than an explosion, then he must be capable of generating some serious force with his flying so I'd say he'd be able to at LEAST slow down a falling rear of a plane). - He could have gone inside the cockpit, and flown upwards so the plane bellyflops into the water or something. there's always a solution.

I think many people in the comments miss the mark on something, when Homelander says "and what? come back 123 times?" he is not only doubting the possibility/ effectiveness of that action, if he could or could not do it in time, he is primarily stating it as a pain in the ass. That's Homelander, he doesn't give two shits about strangers, that's why he moves around without thinking of collateral damage. The same happens when he sarcastically replies about not being able to stand on air to hold the plane, he can clearly float, he just doesn't want to.

The scene has nothing to do with physics, it's all about the decision making and the storytelling. There's a difference between a person who puts everything on the line to save people and one who only does it when it benefits and is of no danger to him. If He had tried to lift the plane and failed and everyone still died, that would have been better than just leaving everyone to die without really helping anyone. He could have flown women and children to the ground, as many as possible before the crash. It was too much of an inconvenience for him to save some, and not all so he just bailed. @Mr.DankestDank I think you're right. Victoria Neuman seems now the most likely Supe who Vought can use to keep Homelander in check, as a contingency, for when he snaps. Unless Ryan ages quickly, she seems more plausible. Or maybe even Black Noir could still be a part of that too, albeit not the same as he is in the comics, maybe Vought will give him a Compound V top up to aid his recovery from Queen Maeves Almond Joy attack, and when he's fully recovered he becomes stronger and Edgar is able to sort of reprogram him to keep tabs on Homelander? Maeve really struggled between her Vought-grown selfishness and her deeply buried human conscience. She genuinely felt bad about all the innocent civilians on the plane being left to die. There’s something to be said about this scene. The biggest part everyone is arguing about is whether Homelander could actually save the plane if he wanted to. What’s interesting to me is that he doesn’t even try, even though he knows that him doing nothing will mean certain death for everyone on board. He had nothing to lose from just making an attempt to save those people and still didn’t do it.

If they tried to argue otherwise, then maybe they should have been left for dead
@Former_Halo_Fan
@Former_Halo_Fan 2 жыл бұрын
@@aredessa5022 No, that's not what would have happened. The survivors would have simply told everyone their perspective of what happened. Their perspective is of course incomplete, so it will lead to a more detailed investigation about Homelander's role in the incident. Homelander is then going to have to explain why the plane went down. No matter which way he spins it, people are going to find some sort of fault with how he handled the situation. As they should. Homelander carelessly opened the plane door without regard for what it might do to the passengers. Luckily, everyone was still buckled into their seats so no innocent people would have been sucked out. He then failed to secure the cockpit because he was too busy playing up to the crowd. Then when he did go to secure the cockpit, he was too late to save the pilots. If he had gone straight to the cockpit immediately (which he should have), he would have had enough time to save at least one of the pilots. Not only did he fail to save the pilots, but he also destroyed the plane's controls through negligent use of his powers. The plane going down is absolutely his fault. If you think the people who would argue otherwise deserve to die, then you're a psychopath. This is also rock-solid proof against Homelander's "I should join the military!" agenda. As he literally just proved that he lacks the professionalism and discipline necessary to complete objectives without collateral damage.
@aredessa5022
@aredessa5022 2 жыл бұрын
@@Former_Halo_Fan I am not a psychopath and the fact that you just throw that term around is disheartening, especially to people you don't know. The correct term is actually ASPD but it's not the only personality disorder that deals with low empathy, nor does everyone that has it automatically think/want people to die or enjoy in murder. That's a negative stereotype and gives people who actually have the PD a bad name that can affect their lives if they get diagnosed with it. That's a serious thing to throw out at people. I don't even think Homelander has that as I think he has malignant NPD, although he could be comorbid with ASPD or meet some of the criteria of ASPD. This is fictional. I would really appreciate it if I am not attacked on a personal level based on a piece of fiction. In real life, I would not want anyone to die on the plane for real regardless of circumstances because I value life. But this is a fictional setting and in my mind the way the supes are handled in this series as well as the way the people in the country glorify them is not realistic and because of that, I don't think this plane situation would have happened and/or the reaction of the survivors in real life. This is all fiction in a fictionalized setting with fictional characters and a fictional circumstance; I believe I can say what I think without my morality being questioned (I also want to note I didn't blatantly state that they should die; I said maybe). Now, I did not take into consideration some of the points you made (and some were good, especially the one with the door), but I still think that it would have been better for Homelander to save everyone versus just letting them die even for the reasons you said (I'm not sure which comment you were replying under as I made many, but if you look at all of them, you will see that my whole point is that Homelander should have saved them regardless because it's better than to let them all die and that the people should just be grateful they got to live instead of dying like they actually did). If Vought was so scared about the truth coming out, why couldn't they have had the survivors sign a contract that forbade them from talking or if Vought is so powerful, why not give them a drug that erases their memories? We are talking fiction here; it can happen. If I was a survivor, I would just be grateful that I was saved and would do anything to help the person who saved me. This make more sense because in this scenario, the passengers didn't actually see all of how Homelander was at all fault so they wouldn't have known he was the cause of the airplane crashing. The evidence would have also been destroyed when the airplane crashed; who's gonna know the truth? Better to just not question the circumstances and get to live versus dying; when I posted this originally, I also thought people were arguing that survivors and others would complain about not everyone being saved and like, from the passengers' perspective, for all they know the terrorists took down the plane, not Homelander. So it would then sound like that they are just complaining because they put high expectations on him. We don't do that to real-life workers. We understand that sometimes casualties happen. Although it's sad, it's just reality. That's why I didn't understand the fact that Homelander was justifying his reasoning for letting a bunch of people die; he was assuming that people would talk negatively about him. However, if it's based on what you said where survivors are praising their rescue but then people begin to question their story, then that's different. That's not them being ungrateful. Still this is an assumption on Homelander's part that this is what would happen. Regardless, if we are actually placing real-world morals in this scenario, then nothing Homelander thinks or assume can justify letting all those innocent people die, even if it would affect him or the organization. But Homelander is selfish and doesn't actually value non-supe life if it can't benefit him; that is honestly why this situation happened. He just didn't care.

The fact that they're all calm because they're aren't going to die makes it so realistic, and it shows how situations very per person depending on what they can do and their experience being like this. The contrast between the heroes and vulnerable people is what makes this fact really sink in. And i love how Maeve was devastated, and how well acted it was, for having to do that and wanted to at least save SOMEONE, going as far as be willing to die with them, that was shocking.

If this shakes your belief about what heroes are you’ve been living a naive childlike life. Where do you think the “don’t meet your heroes” quote comes from. How many examples in real life of public figures do you need to see the evil behind the masks and what they all do in the shadows. The CIA fronted money for a child sex trafficking island where almost every world leader has ties to visiting. The demons are all here in front of you dressed in suits saying things to make the masses feel good and comfy

@@chaseallen4352 I was talking from a storytelling approach. If you have only seen DC and Marvel movies, you believe that heroes will always find a way, an alternative, to save people. The stress you get while Maeve is trying to find a way, and Homelander keeps denying them, shatters that belief you had.

@@valterfara5027 That's not how his flight works. By that logic he shouldn't be able to just float because gravity would pull him down. He shouldn't be able to loose speed and also stay in the sky either or gain speed after loosing it. He also flies with people at high speeds one time he even did this with a baby. Physics works when the show wants it to and I wish it was less ambiguous. If his flight doesn't make sense we can't really object to him stopping a plane.
@JoeFanik
@JoeFanik 3 жыл бұрын
@@platinumgames1314 either the plane would flip or he'd punch right through it. In order to lift a building or in this case a plane, you have to provide a force that's evenly distributed across the entire surface or else it would fall apart or you break through it. Either way, Homelander wouldn't have saved everyone.
