It’s so weird the emotions this scene makes you feel. You actually see the human side of homelander when he relates to his son about the anxiety they both struggle with and he actually has somewhat of a father son moment with Ryan which I found quite touching then you remember homelanders a complete psycho and you have to question yourself and remember that he was raised in a lab and treated like crap as a kid. The scene as well where he’s teaching Ryan to shoot and he looks almost horrified by stormfronts white power talk also makes you question him for a bit.

I don't know where you people saw Homelander being horrified by any stormfront words... Here he's just figuring out how much she's method to get efforts from Ryan is smarter than his. The look he has when Ryan starts to show interest in what SF says is just a surprised look with a good-job-buddy taste. The only time he was "horrified" atm was during his discussion with Vogelbaum about his childhood and (*SPOILEEEEEER*) when he lost Ryan, and it's more deep anger than anything else. Homelander has no empathy AT ALL so why would he be horrified by some fascist speeches or by anything that doesn't concern him ? He's not even able to BE or FEEL horrified, even his good moods or smiles are fake because what he really is inside is angry, spiteful and rancorous.

Ryan is the only person to every try and care about Homelander for just being his dad. The doctors that raised him saw him as a test subject first. Stillwell was too afraid to ever love him like a mother. However, Ryan is still such an innocent child that he wants to see the best in him. Even if Homelander doesn’t realize it, he’s been trying to turn his son into him. The powers and the fame, that’s all he knows. But the opposite is happening. Ryan is teaching Homelander to be a father. Because Ryan isthe only person to every treat Homelander like a normal person. That is really what his greatest weakness is. Homelander deep down wants love. But he hides all of it under the power and the fame. All he desperately wants is for someone to love him as a man. As a boy that never had a family. But everyone is either to afraid, to intimidated or to confused to see it. Everyone except this little boy. And now that the only person to ever show him true love is gone. We can only expect the worst.

I find it strange how Homelander, the most American hero you can think of loves a Nazi. Edit: Jesus fucking Christ it's amazing how this turned into a black and white political argument, Bruh before y'all comment so "Hehe America racist" shit consider the fact that people already replied that, and that no political argument is as simple as one side bieng bad

@@balocke2063 Insanity. Being ignorant about the differences among people is not worse than being an evil mass murderer. It's horrific that our culture treats ignorance or prejudice like it's akin to wanting to murder people. The worst thing you can be is not racist, it's evil. Someone's personal prejudices may not even affect how they treat other people. And such ignorance can be corrected with knowledge. But someone who directly acts to oppress and harm others has already arrived at causing harm. Racism is considered bad because it can lead to harming others. But being evil is even more directly correlated to harming others. Some racists are just misguided in their judgement about human racial differences, and have no desire to cause harm. But anyone who is an evildoer is actually committing evil acts. The reason for the aversion to racism is not that racial ignorance is intrinsically worse than other kinds of ignorance, it's that racism can turn to dehumanization or demonization of others. In other words, racism in it's full expression generally promotes evil. But people who are evil have already arrived at that point.

@Achilles The Great Black genocide is thing, and I haven’t seen news about people being killed for being white *yet* , just because the white population going down, doesn’t mean “genocide” but with black people it’s different, in the Dominican Republic people will get shot down or arrested en masse and stuff like that might be happening in other countries and we might not even know! Killed just because they’re a bit darker than the other people. And are we gonna forget about cops killing black people and slavery happening in America only a few decades ago? Stop being ignorant, go spit that “black genocide isn’t real” rhetoric somewhere else. *L*

@@ChiefKhem You really need to read some history books. After the Haitian revolution, the first ruler of Haiti (Jean-Jacques Dessalines) organised a white genocide.
