As someone who has been on the streets, the accumulation of stuff the campers possessed was ridiculous and unnecessary for survival out there. All I needed was a sleeping bag, a yoga mat, a backpack, and maybe a bag with one change of clothing. That's all. And to maintain having a storage unit by doing seasonal work and temp jobs. For those saying, "They're taking all their stuff, 😭. Shame on them!", the homeless will get more stuff and camp elsewhere and things will repeat themselves, never fails. Or they will take advantage of getting the motel room they held out for and wear out their welcome there. I sympathize with very few out there.

@regg.29703 жыл бұрын
@@taoist32 Usually at some encampments, supporters will buy or bring the campers tents to protect them from the elements. Also, people are always bringing food and clothing as well. Also, the homeless who have been able to "obtain" grocery store carts use them to collect items that may have been discarded and/or left on curbs. Just as in regular communities, you do come across those who hoard and collect stuff that really is not going to be used by the campers, and that is how you see the big messes out there.

so I guess no one ever sat in the folding lawn chairs I saw being thrown away? They do use "some" of what they collect. I think this is sad. Sad for our humanity, or lack of. I was at a party at the lake with my friends. Someone's birthday. Cook out and all. A man walked up and asked if he could have some food for his family. They were camping in their car. He, his wife and two young kids. Not druggies. Just down on their luck. He was the only one working and he lost his job. Couldn't find another one before being evicted and loosing their home. If their car was towed they would have lost everything, including their kids. Some of us took up a collection, gave them money. Took the guy to the supermarket, purchased food and a full gas can since the car was out of gas. One of my friends purchased a cheap phone for the couple with a sim's card. They now had the means to contact their family for help. They got enough to get started again. What have you done for someone like this?? Do you even care? Jesus knows.... and yes, I'm sure several low lifes will have plenty of negative comments to come back with. I will pray for you.

Well that is beautiful and more of this would be amazing. We need to separate the families like this from the scandalous addicts, the addicts that want help and the mentally ill. So we can help those that would benefit from a hand up. Allowing the homeless to just pile up in public places is unacceptable, because that lays the burden on the tax paying middle class and not the govt that is supposed to deal with it. Just think how much it took that man to approach your party and ask for food, that is the kind of man you help
