I have real mixed feelings about this "experiment". Of course it's great and touching to see the kind good-hearted people who generously help. But clearly edited out are the other encounters that didn't go well. And most importantly, is it really ethical to take help and aid when you don't need it? If these good samaritans found out they were being secretly filmed for a KZbin "experiment", would they then be less likely to help a person truly in need of help?

I am a sucker for sure. I always give money to homeless woman who purposely have their small children with them. I also give money to homeless person who have a dog with them. I also give money to homeless man routinely. But one time this happen and I stop giving for a short while. I work in NYC and was getting lunch from a food cart. I had $10 cash on me. Few steps away, I hear a guy repeatedly saying... "Can somebody buy me a meal? Please...". After I paid for my food, I have $2 change. I walk up to him and extended my arm out to give him the $2. He responded loudly... "What the ʞƆ∩Ⅎ. I ask for a meal!" Imagine my surprise. I try to take back the $2 and he said... "I'll take the money but can you get me a meal". I look at him with incredulity. I shook my head and walk off. An entitled beggar. SMH

I would(and have) helped people in her situation, but honestly she didn't make a very believable homeless teen. I am genuinely curious to know how many people noticed the same thing and questioned her on this while they were making the video.

I’m a US Army combat veteran who raised daughters by myself for years. The FIRST thing I would do is get her some food, call the authorities, and follow through with the judicial system to see where she is being placed. My wife and I would provide her a place to stay if needed. There are many good foster parents out there in our country!

The only thing you have to do is watch the KZbin channel Invisible People to see how many bad adoptive parents their are. One boy was kicked out on the streets on his 18th birtday by his adoptive parents, because the child care money stopped. Another boy ran away from home at 7 years old because he couldnt take the abuse of his adoptive parents anymore and lived on the streets from 7 years old to 19 mostly on the streets of California. Another boy was left by his mom on the streets and was too afraid to ask for help because he was afraid to end up with absusive adoptive parents of all the bad stories he heard from other homeless people. That guy till this day has no belongings and sleeps on the beach in defense mode, because so many people molested him as a child and even as adult. Just interview homeless people and see how many had abusive adoptive parents or adoptive parents who only took them in for money they get from the goverment. In the US the homeless problem is huge and a lot of these homeless people are homeless because of mental problems, mental problems they got from being abused in childhood. A boy that is homeless since 7 years old with no money, no education usually doesnt end up well. Business owners dont want to hire homeless people, so they are in something they cant get out. The only way out of homelesness for a lot of these homeless kids is joining the military. The 7 year old got lucky at 19 years old when a good samaritan helped him get an education. Being 7 years old living alone on the streets without parents and turning out to be fine well behaved young man at 19 years old that is now studying to be a teacher is commendable. Just watch Invisible People how messed up the adoptive industry is and how many adoptive children end up on the streets because of it.

I’m 62 and spent some of my 20’s homeless. I slept in post office lobbies, hospital waiting rooms and parks. This girl is too clean and kept to have been homeless for 2, 3 months. Not true. I met a woman who lived in her car, and she'd go to the Y for a shower regularly, and they were good with that. She was sweet as could be, but mentally ill. I was sure after she asked for help starting her car. A jump didn't help and I soon learned she was out of gas. Anyone can make that silly mistake, but she still didn't understand after it was clear that an empty tank was the problem.

In the real world, what would probably happen is the kid would make up a reason why not and then proceed to try and get you to give them money for their parent or whoever. This is propaganda, there are lots of resources for children who need food, medicine, etc. I can't believe that so many of you guys are so naive. If you are ever in a situation like the video and can't tell that the sob story is BS, then offer to help by calling the police, shelters, etc. Do NOT give money. Our daughter graduated from USC two years ago. She was involved in starting the first school funded shelter to help homeless students in the greater LA area. Every weekend she also helped with the local food bank. To say I am a proud dad would be an understatement.

There's still some decent people around!!! I lived on the streets with 15 until 17 and many times I've been helped by strangers... I was homeless with 2 children once, went to the food stamp office for help, they refused emergency assistance and told me to return the next day. We were living in my car. The next day I went back and they told be that they sent someone to where I said I parked my car the night before I first went in, and I wasn’t there, so they wouldn’t even give me food stamps. They didn’t even ask why I wasn’t there, or what car I was in, or anything. Just said no. Period. It was awful. Thankfully I am doing much better now, and I made it through that time, but I will NEVER forget how callous they were.

i know how much a meal can help someone in that situation. did something similar with my first paycheck from my very first job. some prob say they wouldnt believe her by her clothes or body language but if ur caught off guard not expecting someone to ask you for help your not going to analyzing her. youll be a little surprised...but then youll try to help.

I just recently discovered my youngest daughter lived in her car for about a month. In 2007 I was deployed to Iraq and my ex wife ran off with some guy she met at a bar. Leaving my 16 year old daughter by herself. She didn’t want anybody to know or make them worry or feel sorry for her. so she stayed in her car and took showers at school. The only meal that she was getting was school breakfast and lunches. And she got a job working at a sonic drive-through. The house her mom was living in was a rental and somebody else had moved in. For years I was never aware of this. It wasn’t until two years ago she had told me. Today she is a college student working on her bachelors degree and eventually her masters degree. My ex wife is six feet under the ground. She died from a drug overdose. I think it was heroin. So in the end everybody got exactly what they deserve. good and bad.

This is very touching and reassuring. To know that people still have a heart for some homeless folk. However, it is also testament to the different expectations men receive from women. Experiments across the board will allude to the fact that we are more inclined to help women than we are men. If a man asked these exact same questions that this girl was asking, he would have been denied 10 out of 10 times.

I'm always down to help someone who needs it but you get to know a rehearsed line when you hear it. You wanna help but you also don't want to be treated like a sucker, working your ass off to earn a living and scammers are just walking away with your money only to be back again the next day with someone else. In this case, I'd be calling the cops to meet us at the food place. Also too many of these kind of videos are starting to make everyone feel like everything is a setup. They're all looking around for the camera. They suspect something is off.

I’m always wary of panhandlers. As a result, I’d question someone (anyone) with clean hair and clean clothes saying they’d been on the streets for a couple of months. I was so humble to everyone helped the street girl asking for help. The social experiment went quite well, all those were very supportive to her when needed help. That shows they were very kind hearted people, almost ready to help anyone comes to ask for help. I give a big salute to all those who supported her. My appreciation to all of them. We see people who got a charitable heart when someone are in far distress ready to help them. I am from Srilanka.
