Homeless Man Asks His Family To Reach Out To Him

We met Aaron in Camden sitting against a phonebooth opposite Sainsburys. He became homeless after coming to London from Scotland and his mum passing away. Aaron told us that everyday is a fight for survival and the streets are like a jungle. He described to us his first day on the streets as being scary and he didn't know what to do so he just walked around the streets trying to figure everything out.
During the recording Aaron made a plea for his family in Scotland to reach out to him. The cold weather has been very difficult for people like Aaron.

Homelessness is a growing issue for the UK with more than 300,000 people living on the streets. Many of these people don't even make it onto the official figures.
The Unseen is an organisation we set up to give Homeless people a platform to have their stories and their struggles heard. We also want everyday people to have an opportunity to understand what leads a person into being Homeless. We at the The Unseen believe that everybody has a responsibility to help the unfortunate.
We want employers and regular people to support the homeless towards getting back into work and off the streets.
We hope their stories can touch the hearts of many.

I hope that maybe his family or someone who knows his family. See this, he does seem a very nice person., sometimes in life when people's situations change, they can't cope with the financial strain, he seems quite a shy person, and maybe not very good at expressing his situation. I know there are more and more people becoming homless, and it's an on growing problem, but I do think governments should be trying to help more, may God help them, and we the public also

There's a huge gap in his story as far as talking to the council. He seems nice, but i get the feeling like many others in his position, he didnt start sorting things out until it was too late.Obviously the eviction process is a LONG process and he would have had ample warning. Ideally, you should approach the housing department the first sign of trouble you get. Maybe he was living in a council house that was in his mother's name? In housing, we'd get handed a case, and that person would sometimes be near impossible to reach for a good few weeks. Sometimes you can go to their door if you have time but usually, you've got so many cases that you just have to move onto the next one that's more responsive. Of course, as time starts running out, that unresponsive person starts becoming responsive and complaining that no one is helping them and now you have a big panic. Biggest advice for anyone in a similar situation or facing one - get in to your council ASAP. The second your living situation is even in doubt. book an apointment. Housing people is a stressful and difficult task. The more time you give the council the less of a painful transition it'll be
