Why are people surprised that there are educated homeless people? All it takes is, 1 job loss, no savings, no back up safety net (family, friends, partner), to help out...& BOOM! Most likely the commission on teacher credentialing has revoked his credential. For instance, if you get a Dui or have any arrest they can potentially take away your license to teach in either California or New York.

I have a teaching credential and you have to renew your teaching license every 5 years or you lose it. I also have a Masters degree. You have to sign up with a school district, take a specific set of classes, and 100+ "clock hours" that consists of volunteering working with children or taking even more classes, etc. Teaching licenses are specific to that person; you can't sell them on Ebay or anywhere else, and they check you out thoroughly so you can't use a fake ID. This guy is a good talker but I'm guessing his teaching credentials are not good anymore.
