Homeless man in viral video reunites with son

“Music took me around the world before I was 21 and somehow, my music now has gotten me back together with my son.” (July 7, 2015)

Obviously his life as a marine and the death of his wife hurt him so badly he lost his sobriety, his son, his music, everything. This talented musician fought back. His son must know as must the foster parents must know there is a spark of the divine in all of this tragedy. Good for all of them for their response to it. I wish them all every joy in the coming months and years. Thanks to all who responded to that spark. May we see more and more healing in our world🙏🏻❤️

Thank you also for giving him the opportunity to connect and talk w his biological father. It clearly had a huge impact on Donald. He was going into rehab the next day. This makes my heart so happy. I pray hes stayed sober and enjoys a great...well earned life. Along w his son. 😊😇 I was adopted by my mothers new husband when I was in 3rd grade. He asked me if I wanted his last name and I was ecstatic. From the day my mother introduced us...he treated me as his own. Adoption is absolutely a beautiful thing. God bless everyone

He was a good man who lost his family when he was in service. His insperation to live normal was gone followed with depression. Then you don't care for yourself and anything else. Hope his love for his son rekindle his interest to live normal. I hope the son would heal from his hurt and be inspired as well. Hope his son learn music lesson from his talented dad as one of their bonding time.

I hope they get to talk privately without the entire world watching. They have a lot of stuff to talk out so they can move forward. I really love the boy's adopted family, they are clearly wonderful people, encouraging him to talk to his father. I am praying he goes into treatment and truly embraces recovery and finishes his education. Maybe this is what he has needed to take that step. I wish him all the best. It isn't easy.

Wow, I’m wiping away the tears now. God blessed me with sobriety when my son was 12. He’s a grown man of 30 now. And we have a great relationship. I hope they can do the same. I pray they will!

God Bless his Son Donald's adoptive parents for enabling this. Such a sad story for this young man who is now about 27. His father was devastated and broken and needed help, and for nearly 10 years has given back to the community and fought to stay on track. I pray continued healing for them both, and hope that they have been able to continue to connect in a meaningful and healing way. God Bless you Both. Regardless of hardship, there is always Hope, and you will always be Dad & Son. 🙏❤️

It was really so amazing to see Donald Gould having this one time chance to reunit with his long lost son after 15 years without his son in his life. I do hope that Donald goes all the way with the rehap and that he clean his act up, and then he can start getting to know his son again. God bless you Donald, and i do really wish you the very best from the bottom of my heart. I my self is a father to a beatiful warm and tender boy and he just turned 8 years old this January. I am not together with my sons mother any more, and i have been alone for 4 years now, and i see my son every second weekend. And we have a great time together every time, but my god i do miss him so much in my every day life. You all take care now you hear :-)

I'm so happy that this gifted man who placed his life "on the line" for us was reunited with his son. Perhaps the remainder of his life will bring him the peace of mind and sense of belonging he so deserves. The government and the greedy think that those who serve should be used and thrown away and that life is cheap. The VA is a mess and nothing is being done. There is a price for negligence-Karma.

It will be very difficult for the boy, because he is in the middle of his adopted family and his natural father. It’s not an easy situation for anyone, (I’ve been in the same one). I hope they will be given privacy, and will be able to find a workable relationship between them all. At least now the son knows how his father has always loved, and still loves him. So many people don't understand that sometimes it takes a good belt of alcohol to be able to sleep on a cold ground. Sometimes an even bigger struggle is trying not to commit suicide because things are so bad for you.
