I really dont understand that her mom has no effort in finding any employment to support her and rest of her kids. Nor a place to call home.

pf7912 it's not that simple, even if you did have a full time job this country doesn't pay us a livable wage. I live in California gas is 3.50 per gallon, food is super expensive I spent 90 dollars on very few things that will only last us two days, to call a place home here is a luxury. If you want to rent a one bedroom apartment they go for 1300-2000 per month you can however rent a bedroom inside someone's house and that's 700-900 that's with a shared bathroom and kitchen but they are picky on who lives there. Then we have transportation which is okay I think bus fare is 1.75, I own my car and insurance is stupid expensive. I was making 16 per hour and I still couldn't afford living on my own. It's not as easy as you think it is, now can you imagine her having three children she has to raise on her own and not even able to get a job and if you did they want to pay you shit and over work you and even fuck up your pay or find ways not to pay you? That's insane.

Being Homeless is not something you say out to anyone. I wish this young Lady all the Good luck in the world. Being a student is tough enough, coming to the same ol crazy environment is tougher. Glad she found the right people to help at Georgetown. Hope she stays in School and graduate and leave the environment for good.

Glad she went into medical, if she did anything else, she's be likely in the same position as her mom, but instead with $600+ a month loan. Good luck to her, but I dont think she realizes the insane and asinine costs of going to medical school (which she is attending AFTER the schlorship it says on 2 articles). How is she going to pay for her books, boarding, all that? Good luck, she seems very smart but not money smart. Student loans are the devil (cough sallie mae cough) for most people's entire life. That company makes more than VISA and Mastercard, and they are supposed to be "helping students achieve college success" -- yeah right, more like ripping you off your entire life with loans that make no logical sense, even to their own employees you talk to

She has a full ride at Georgetown, especially as a result of her financial need. She won't have any undergrad debt, and I'm sure the situation will be similar for grad school. The middle class suffers from high college debt; the rich families can pay for college, while poor students get financial aid. Typically, middle class families can't pay the expected parent contributions (basically all income made above $30k minus $30k).
