JESSICA PEELING has had difficult experiences being a homeless youth. Her honestly helps us to understand how intergenerational trauma has affected her life.
This is the seventh video in a series of eighteen shot at the Royal Athletic Park (RAP) parking lot encampment in Victoria, BC. In consideration of the debate around homelessness in our community, it's important to hear the voices of the people actually experiencing LIFE OUTSIDE. Thank you, Jessica, for sharing your story.

When all you have is you it's human nature to not want to be alone and when you're homeless being alone is even worse so you end up opening up to the wrong people. People in the street. That are only for their own gain. I had to really force myself to be alone for my own good I spent 15 years in the streets since I was 14 and I been through every bad thing you could imagine but I knew no one was my friend but me so I preserved myself through that, I kept sober safe and out of jail from literally just cutting everyone off and being alone. But that's like forcing yourself not to breathe. You can never progress prevail or stay sober until you learn. No one is your friend in the street you need to be alone away from all the influences. Or you won't succeed.

She looks like she is 80 years worth of exhausted and my heart aches for what she has endured between her family and the bad boyfriends. She looks so cold... And she just want to create a safe space to share

I would be so proud if this young woman was my daughter. I can only see her potential. ❤️ Beyond the very unfortunate circumstance that she is in. This brings tears to my eyes. The amount of homelessness in canada is a disgrace on the politicians who are in charge of spending our tax dollars responsibly!?!? The amount of corporate welfare is completely out of control. When are we as a people as a whole going to pressure our gov's to doing what is right and just , & hold them all accountable?!? When are we going to push back to making a bette canada?? May the Creator give us all the wisdom to getting back on the path of caring and knowing what to do about this political boondoggle of homelessness? This is complete BS?!?! Not one person in North America should ever have to sleep in a thin nylon tent in winter or summer in a rich nation like Canada! MY PRAYER for all the good homeless people, & for those who have a roof is for we all have & share in. Peace, Love, Golden Light, & the many blessings (a home, with filled pantry & fridge of food.
