As far as your example of moving back in with your patents, most homeless people had that option until their parents got sick of enabling their drunk dope head kids lol. I tried reporting it to the city, the response I got was that if the city cleans it up, more will be dumped and it would become a regular thing. ? I don't get their logic. Two minimum wage workers could put their money together and get an apartment. That's $2,320 per month. More than enough to have an apartment and food every month. Average rent in the u.s is about $1,100 per month. Two homeless people with full time minimum wage jobs could pay that rent and still have a thousand left to spend on food and utilities. But they gotta buy their cigarettes, liquor and drugs with that money so they can't get an apartment. In states with minimum wages over $15 per hour there's absolutely no reason a full time worker should be homeless. That's $600 per week or $2,400 per month. If you can't afford a one bedroom apartment that costs $750 per month on your $2,400 per month salary then you're spending your money on stuff you shouldn't be.

Not everybody is an addict. I'm not homeless anymore but I was ran away 14 years old because of the abuses I was forced through at home. DRUGS WASNT MY GOAL(IT WAS SUI).It happens to alot of kids who tried to reach out for help at schools and was told it's supposed to be that way. I can't run straight and I'm dripping blood from my rear but your just fine as they grab your neck and drag you to class. I didn't use drugs I was a wild animal locked in a basement for ten years sold to who ever had the most rocks in the pipe, like any wolf who's been caged finds out the school can't stop you from running. You'll take the opportunity and run.

Here's a novel solution. Why not send the tiny house kits for the homeless to rural locations in the forest? Why not separate the drug access from the equation? Why not add the benefit of natural resource stewardship? Biochar can be made from waste wood. Millions of dollars are wasted on expensive helicopters that don't do diddley for fire suppression. Washington forests need attention and people can have endless work by clearing dead wood and making a valuable resource -biochar. Charcoal has dozens of applications. It does improve agricultural soils. It is used in rivers and lakes to adsorb toxins and pollutants. It is also used to strengthen roads and added to cement. This is an idea that solves many problems. Outward bound- like camps offer an opportunity to introduce skillsets, detox the addiction, and excersize the investment in permanent residents and forest economy.

Wildfires are the symptom of neglect in our forests. 5 million for a helicopter dropping fire retardants and herbicides is the current stradegy. That's destructive. Remove the street drugs from the homeless equation and there is opportunity to work in a natural setting and make biochar. The tiny home encampments are an expensive solution. In a city, with no purpose, the street drugs will continue. Biochar production is material for environmental clean up it is a win win.
