I do wonder about the lawfulness of some of the DWPs regulations . The decision to pay UC claimants an up lift during lock down, but not JSA claimants seemed to be discriminatory. Similarly the support for mortgage interest payments that was a third of the average payments for housing benefits, was withdraw. The logic takes some understanding, after all interest payments benefits the bank, like rent payments benefits the landlord. Interest is a living expense. By taking away this safety net , it has caused unnecessary hardship and disruption to peoples lives, and in the long run will cost society far more than what it has saved. Sanctioning claimants benefits is also questionable to it's lawfulness. After receiving a reply from my FOI letter. JSA income based and UC are funded from general taxes not income tax or nation insurance. As a claimant has been contributing to the general tax fund all their lives and will do for the rest of their lives, by effecting their benefits without a lawful reason ie: fraud, the DWP are infringing on trust law. And i wonder why the title jobcentre plus is still being used. Jobcentre plus was dissolved in November 2011.
