Thanks! I’m not familiar (yet) with small engine repair, and your video perfectly addressed the problems I have.

Thanks for the video. I have the original HB290 ( no V) and have owned it since new. Your vid helped me do a repair today in 90 minutes. It had split a return line recently and has only had the plug replaced once in the 3 decades. I bought a fuel line kit w/ primer bulbs , filters & check valves on web plus spark plug with air filter local. I found the correct size hose so I didn't have to remove the tank and hog out the hole. Carb cleaning was quick and easy with some parts store spray I had from working on cars. Just sprayed the throttle plate and up through the fuel inlet. After the quick repairs and before installing the side cover I used some of the Awesome Orange cleaner and a cheap toothbrush to clean in and about the plastic housing then gave it a blast with the water hose. Its ready for another 29 yrs or until it needs a piston and ring. Started second pull after the new primer bulb had gotten most of the bubbles out of it.

Very detailed. I also laughed so hard when you were putting the primer bulb back on and there's a little "pop" sound then the screws appear out of nowhere. I watched it several times and laughted each time. Almost like a magic show thrown in by the teacher to keep your attention. I really appreciate you taking the time to make the video, it's very informative!

They came from the local lumberyard/home center. Home centers, hardware stores and farm stores that sell that type off equipment will typically have some parts like that. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment!!

What’s the best way to clean off the exterior of the carb and everything else before disassembly, with brake cleaner or a degreaser detergent with some water?
@metalwooddesign
@metalwooddesign 5 жыл бұрын
Compressed air (cheapest thing I’ve got ) for the big junks of gunk being careful I don’t blow away something that shouldn’t be. After that brake cleaner and a brush is the best to clear away years of oil and the other baked on gunk. You can hit any spot with that tube on the spray can. It’s a solvent so it needs to stay off your skin and out of your lungs. Once the engine is open I only use carb cleaner on the inside since brake cleaner is particularly nasty when it burns. Thanks for the comment ! Have fun fixing !!

Where did you get the new tubing for fuel lines!
@metalwooddesign
@metalwooddesign 3 жыл бұрын
The fuel tubing came from the local hardware store. Most places that have a good selection of outdoor power equipment will have some replacement parts, lines, filters, bulbs. Thanks for watching and leaving a question!

My Home lite blower will not start. I tested my spark plug, and it has a spark, but it still will not spark. I then replace the carburetor and fuel line, but it will not start.

Me dealing with fuel lines, like he says or others, could be the lines - route is wrong. Now I know from tank straight to carburetor, then to bulb, to tank as release. Videos show how to determine the outlets of pump and carburetor

You have two ground wires. One is on the Crankcase cover and the other on the lower handle/stand. Which one goes to the ignition module and where is the other one connected to? Thanks -TGR
@metalwooddesign
@metalwooddesign 5 жыл бұрын
The ignition cutoff switch is in the top handle. The ground wire you mention is a single wire that bonds the stand to the crankcase. There's a good view of this at 9:36. Thanks for for checking out the vid!

Does the black return line have anything attached to it? or does it just go directly in the hole with nothing on it

@@metalwooddesign I have a similar model. Has spark, compression, New lines and I did dunk the carb into a ultrasonic c!eaner. When trying to start , it does sound like it wants to start but won't stay running. Plug smells of gas though isn't completely soaked in fuel. Any thoughts? Blower has been bugging me.
@metalwooddesign

Maybe a new clunk if you didn't change it out with the new line. The carb mixture on this one is a little finicky to get just right to start, run and idle consistently.

Are they supposed to idle at 6700 rpm?
@johnaldrich2074
@johnaldrich2074 2 жыл бұрын
6700 rpm would almost be wide open, 2500 to 3000 is my preferred rpm for 2 stroke blowers chainsaws and weedeaters
