Got a similar saw not running (homelite super 2) from my Pake(Grandpa) sweet little saws for the size. All it needed was a carb clean and fresh gas. Love the videos!

Idle speed is 2700..... 11K no load and 7K in the wood.. gas mix is 32:1....... 3/8 chain and 14" bar.... Those are the factory specs... I have several and they go like stink. I did the same muffler mod and it runs stronger... Had mine for 35 years.... they were made in the 1977-82 time frame...

Yep I have the factoryHomelite spec sheet here. It says 2900-3300 for the idle rpm,no load 10-11,000 rpm 115-145 psi compression. Doesn’t specify an under load spec but Mike Acres site says 7000rpm however that would go up with a muffler mod. Great little saws thanks for watching.

And ya I thought i’d try 40:1. I know the spec was 32:1 but that was back in the mid 70’s so thought with newer oil technology I could get away with 40:1 but I will admit i’m still experimenting on that.,

I've been running 40:1 dirtbike mix for years in my saws! Premium 91 and amsoil dominator

I think it’s fine but on some of the old saws they use different bearings so I’m not sure how it will be but that little XL seems to run fine on it for now lol

Hello I have a Homelite XL and it says atomatic oiling as well. Founded this little saw in the trash and I was thinking I can not let that little saw go to trach so i took it home and fixed it up and it runs good now.Perfect little saw for trimming branches in the garden as well as cutting firewood to the woodstove. What oilmix do you ran your saw at? I run mine at 50:1 high quality oil and fuel.

I never go any less oil than 40:1 especially on those old saws.

@@Indeewoods Do you know what fuelmix Homelite originally recommends?

It was supposed to be 32:1 I believe.

@@danielsvensson356 Original manual says 32:1 if using Homelite oil, or 16:1 if using non-homelite oil. Modern oil has so much more lubricity that 50:1 is "probably" fine depending on how often the saw is being used, but I personally stay on the safe side and use 40:1 on any 2-cycle over 40 years old.
