At first I thought that pressure would still leak out past the L-screw, but then I remembered that some of these HDC Walbro carburettors has what they call "dependent" low range system, so all the fuel is passing by the H-screw first. That makes sense.

I just got 2 of those XL Auto's in on Sunday, they were heading for the dumpster. I can't wait to dig into them! Great little saws. I'll show them on my channel... Great video!!

Another great video. So glad I added a pressure testing gage to my arsenal. Has saved me so many times.. Sucks when you tear open a saw and come to find out it was a stupid leak in the fuel line.

Funny! I would’ve thought that the engine would burn out since it has no gas to cool it on high revs. I guess the fact that he had to run it on choke did cut enough of the air so it didn’t get lean enough to burn..! Thanks for another great vid Leon!

Personally I hated working on those. Just the fact to change a sprocket you had to pull the motor was a pisser. Of course if there were other problems you were already there. Still have a few of those in the shop, freebies.

I have the exact same saw from kinda 50 y ago😂 great saw and great problems from her. Since the oil plunger was impossibile to find i made one my own. But i still have some issues with carburation. It runs great on high revs but on low revs if you suddely open full throttle it dies like no gas. When you raise up idle screw or open throttle more gently it goes great instead😅. Any idea on it? All fuel lines filters diaphrams gaskets and needle replaced. It seems to not be affected by H screw. Do you have any idea on what's the issue?

I dont know where all those ppl in Leon's videos find their aftermarket carb kits from BUT all the carb kits from Visco i use have the exact size as the originals. Im mentioning this cause not all ppl can have access to original carb kits, especially for those old saws.

But I'd still rather use original OEM carb kits. Every damn aftermarket kit I've tried..... there's ALWAYS something that isn't quite right 👍

@@donmayberryjrsOPE Me too BUT if we cannot find OEM kits for those old saws, from my experience, Visco carb kits are an excellent alternative since everything is exactly as the OEM.
