I rarely say this, but this video may well kill someone, or worse, many people. Ball park numbers, Air is about 1kg/m3 and is at room temperature (~300 Kelvin) Dry ice is about -88C (212 Kelvin, 44g./mol, comparable to air). Practically this means to lower the room temperature by 10C means the final atmosphere will be about 10 % carbon dioxide. That will be fatal in about 30 minutes.
@ZauStuv9 жыл бұрын
No, you'll get that temperature by using less dry ice than 10% of the atmosphere (after evaporization), because of the enthalpy. It takes away extra heat from the envinorment to change the consistency of the dry ice from a solid to a gas.
@gelmir73229 жыл бұрын
ZauStuv is that the same as heat of sublimation?
@ZauStuv9 жыл бұрын
gelyn miranda English is not my first language, so I'm not sure about the names (I used google translator), but by the amount of energy needed for the consistency change, I basically meant the definition what you said. Enthalpy is the overall energy of a closed system.

So i made one of these and put it in my kids bedroom last night, didn't hear a peep about the heat all night. in fact they've slept in pretty late, they are normally up really early but they've slept in past midday. I should probably check on them i guess, thanks for the great idea though!

I took my toddler to work a couple of days ago in the extreme heat. But due to office rules, we cannot have children at work. So I put my toddler in the extremely hot car and I built an AC from dry ice like you did! Worked perfectly! After my shift was over, I got to my car and saw that my toddler was sleeping. How cute :^)

WARNING: THIS CAN BE DANGEROUS TO YOUR HEALTH AND EVEN CAUSE DEATH This is extremely dangerous and I'm surprised how nobody realizes how stupid this idea is. Let's say your room is 100m^3, 10kg of dry can make you feel really uncomfortable, causing headache and might even be fatal to elderly or children. And if you sleep with this thing, you very well might never wake up.
@DerClaudius10 жыл бұрын
So... your fix for this is to put "(Use Ice From water for better effect)" in the title? Instead of warning the people in description and/or captions.... really? At least make it "(Use Ice From water for less accidental suicides)" Safety is number one priority...
@dudecrafter574610 жыл бұрын
He has ventilation in the description at least, though he should remake this video to properly help people lol.

If I were him, I would just remake the video, use regular ice instead of dry ice and address the concerns such as the fact that dry ice can kill you
@scintallatingff110 жыл бұрын
Are you complainers ever happy? One person says "Doing description is stupid no one reads that" You say "Make description and caption warning people". He has done both.
