Nice. I used to use these when I worked in a heavy truck shop, and they work great. And if you change motorcycle tires, they are a lot better and faster than using ratchet straps in the center of the tire. Thanks Josh for another great vid.

Used those in a tire shop for years. Professional looking build!

You did a good job with your tank, and thanks for the demo. I thought about doing the modification to a portable air tank I already have. But now you can buy one like yours, ready-to-go, on eBay with free shipping, for $100-125, so it's hardly worth the effort to make your own now.

Nice video, I made one like this but still have a bit of fear of the tire blowing up..Had all the stuff from yard sale finds. About the only way to set tires on bobcat skid loaders that I know of other than making a bomb out of fluid. Making one has it's rewards with knowledge.

The one I bought suggests only 50-60 psi charge pressure for passenger tires. Most passenger tires say maximum seating pressure is 40 psi, and even this figure assumes a much longer time interval than a bead seater will generate. Factor in the losses from the imperfect seal etc... This thing isn't gonna blow any tires if you use it right.

Yep, built mine too. :) I didn't bring it out of the side though I came out of one end so both handles have the same orientation if you know what I mean. Everybody thinks its scary...lol It's really not just a little loud, I love using it! lol

I saw several on eBay yesterday for less than $52 ... so, I'd just buy one there.

I use a ratchet strap. Easier, quieter and safer to use and carry on the trail and in the garage. Been using a ratchet strap on car tires since the 1960s. Once the tire is able to accept air and keep it, release the strap.

You need to have the tank welded by a professional tank welded. If this come apart when you are airing the tank up this will be very bad news. Always be safe!!!!

Michael White good observation! i am a class 6 certified welder (pressure vessels/boilers) i did this type of work professionally for several years, but not a project for the inexperienced for sure, thanks for the comment, josh

I got an airpowered confetti gun that holds about 1 gallon of air at 120 psi and releases 5x faster than you could possibly do a ball valve.. I bet I could bead a small tire with it.
@scootin1237 жыл бұрын
Patrick Bernard sounds good I will look into a confetti blaster

The first time you do this you may need to change your pants LOLZ.... I remember when this tank was $400+ and now the price is more reasonable as these air tanks are very common for insurance. Check Amazon and you will see an economy model is a little over $100 and a Cheetah is around $200 from several tool suppliers. Some people do not have the ability to build this air tank, but it works awesome on hard to seal tires.

Really ?
@bluehandsvideo10 жыл бұрын
Daniel Raidt I do think it's safer, but the ether certainly has it's place. The 4WD guys use it out on the trail. I wouldn't want this tank bouncing around in my rig on the trail. I would change up the ball valve to so that the handle is vertical and pushes forward to open. First time I used ether, I almost peed myself! lol Certainly has a lot more "wow" factor. :)
@diesel_ramcharger545310 жыл бұрын
bluehandsvideo you want a cheetah to open when you pull the handle, not push. obvious you've never used one. ether is bad is you are too stupid to pull the valve core out first.
