Thank you Heidi for being brave enough to show that you make mistakes. You could have easily re-recorded to make a perfect video but instead you decided to keep things real. I think this will help a lot of people who are terrified of making a mistake with herbs by showing how easily you can adjust what you are doing and it’s going to be okay. Also a wonderful life lesson as things don’t always go as we plan but you just smile reevaluate and make a new plan. Thank you and God Bless.

LOL!!! SO true! Here'a a confession: I struggle with making these videos terribly. The thought of re-recording is just awful to me! Plus, I didn't want to waste product. But yes! Mistakes are ok! Most of them are easy to fix, especially when it comes to herbal preparations! :-)

Hi Heidi, was wondering what oil you use for the infusion. Thank you
@HeidiVillegas2 жыл бұрын
For the herbal infused oil, it was olive oil. It's a great all around oil and good as a base in combination with the other oils in the recipe.

The oil that was going bad it, did you say at John wort was in there too?
@HeidiVillegas6 ай бұрын
Well, it's been years since I made that video---so I can't remember. If it was going bad, I wouldn't have used it, though.

can you use something else besides the tamanu and the sea buckthorn oils if you don't have them? thank you as always. You're the best.
@HeidiVillegas2 жыл бұрын
You can, but depending on the oil you choose, you may not get the skin benefits that help with stretch marks/scars that you do with the tamanu and sea buckthorn.

Would St. John's wort salve be problematic with low thyroid? I know it's a no go for internal use, but hoped topically might be difernet...? Thank you Heidi!
@HeidiVillegas5 ай бұрын
It depends on if you're on meds or not. St. John's wort has MANY herb-drug interactions (HDI's).

@@HeidiVillegas I am on an SSRI, but hoped that topically it might be ok...I guess it's better to be cautious!. Thanks Heidi

Thank you Heidi. I just ordered the ingredients I didn’t have thru your channel from Amazon. How long do I infuse the Calendula and St. John’s wort and should I do them separately or together?
@HeidiVillegas3 жыл бұрын
Here's an article on infusing oils with herbs.... You can do them either way! :-) www.healingharvesthomestead.com/home/2016/11/25/how-to-infuse-herbs-in-oils-for-salves-soaps-remedies

This video is great timing, I'm 20 weeks pregnant with my second. Thank you! Where do you get your butters?
@HeidiVillegas5 жыл бұрын
Hi, Cecily! Congratulations!!! :-) I get most of my butters either from Amazon or Starwest Botanicals. I'll go over and leave links to the specialty butters, in the description, and here is a link to Starwest: bit.ly/StarBot

So can I assume this is safe for pregnant women in their last trimester and also for nursing? My daughter asked me what she could use on her belly, but I don't know enough about herb and essential oil safety yet - still learning! Thanks.
@HeidiVillegas5 жыл бұрын
Hi, Nancy! If I were personally pregnant, I would absolutely feel fine using this in my own personal third trimester....HOWEVER, remember, I am not a medical doctor, and pregnancy is a special condition that you should always be sure to do your research for ingredients you're not familiar with. The only ingredients that could potentially cause issues are the sea buckthorn oil and the St. John's wort infused oil-- There is such a tiny amount of SBT oil, and there is conflicting information on it. Most skincare sites state it is safe for pregnancy. The only sites I've found that state there is not enough information are the very conservative medical sites. As for SJW, the NIH (National Institute of Health) website states there is not enough clinical information on it to recommend it during pregnancy. This is a problem for many herbs that have traditional uses---they are old time folk medicines and not part of the modern medical lexicon of Rx/OTC drugs. I suggest that everyone do their own research on all the ingredients---for your own level of confidence and peace of mind. Then feel free to make adjustments! The SBO is only 1/2 tsp, so if you left it out, it's not going to make a huge difference. :-) As for the SJW, just go with calendula infused oil instead and leave it out too for more peace of mind! :-) It's just plain difficult, as there is always going to be disagreement or different information. **Also, my DIL has already had my grand daughter--so she is no longer pg. One last thing: I would much rather rub this on my tummy at any stage than the toxic chemicals (hormone disruptors, carcinogens, parabens, etc.) proven to cause issues for people that are for whatever reason still allowed by the FDA. WHEW! Sorry this is so long! I should have discussed all this in the video, so thank you for asking! :-)
