@BanjoLemonade This is amazing. You are so kind to share all of this. I am trying to make my dulcimer with only repurposed and reclaimed parts. Can you share the info about the fretboard, such as the distance between the frets, how thick the frets themselves are, whether the fretboatd is curved or flat, etc. If it's too much to adk, thanks anyway for all the advice! 😊

Great video. I just bought the materials to build my own mountain dulcimer. I was fortunate to find 1/4" by 3" poplar from Lowes so I won't need to rip the poplar for the sides. Does Backyard music still offer the "Mandy fretboard"? Thanks for all of your great videos.

Yes they do still make it. NICE find!! Have fun building it.

Here in the U K, I have had a go at experimenting with a home made fret board with some degree of success. Your video has given me the inspiration to make the rest of it. I hope it sounds as good as yours if as and when I finish it. A little shop local to me sells replacement geared tuners for just a couple of pounds. I got some a few years ago . I just wish I knew how to send you pictures of the thing. Ah well, keep it up and I'll be looking out for your videos in the future. Thanks from Yorkshire U K. 🙂

If a simple box is all you need, you don't even need to know joinery. All you need is tiny brackets and screws.
@BanjoLemonade2 жыл бұрын
You don’t even need any brackets, this is all put together with wood glue. Titebond 3. Just build a wood box of any size as a resonating chamber. Thin wood is best, put some holes in it and attach a good fretboard and you are there!
