I think we had pinto beans and cornbread for supper at least once a week, growing up. And mother loved cornbread crumbled up in a glass of cold milk for her lunch or late night snack. 😋

Nothing better than hot cornbread except with pinto beans with some cut up onions yummy my late husband would not eat it with sugar wasn't raised on it funny about me he wanted cut in pie shape lol and I love it with a glass of buttermilk him sweet milk lol ❤ ty for sharing God Bless you and your's 🙏🙏❤️

Got cooler here in NJ Talia Faye, so I had fall fever. Made a turkey breast, stuffing, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce with orange zest. The final thing was a homemade pumpkin pie. Thanksgiving came early to our house. Yum, Yum 😋

Hey there . My mother made cornbread identical to yours . Sooo good . She sometimes would add cracklings , for crackling cornbread and a pot of beans , and fried potatoes , and cabbage . Oh man . Miss it , but mostly her .

@@dreamteamleader9098 I go against the grain on the washing them!!… I wash mine in soapy water… rinse… dry on the fire on the stovetop… take a paper towel with a little cooking oil and wipe it down 😊… been doing it for years

Looks yummy my mom and nana had a special cast iron just for cornbread and everyone knew not to use it lol they would use bacon grease or criso put in over to heat up as oven coming to temperature so good I like white Lilly self rising cornbread mix but can’t find it in ca I order it on line and no whole butter. Milk here either

OOOHHH Miss Talli Faye, I love homemade Corn Bread. Grandma and then my Mom and Dad had a beautiful jersey cows.... We made Butter from the cream and from the buttermilk made Biscuits, pancakes, corn bread and other things. Fresh Butter slathered on the baked things or pancakes, Just a taste of Almost Heaven...... then Cornbread with Ham and bean soup or chili with pinto beans or Ham potatoes and green beans.... How delicious.... When I was in Bible College in Florida every Saturday for lunch we had cornbread and pineapple and I loved it eaten as pineapple upside down cake I still love that. Rick

When I think of cornbread I think of beans...when I think of beans I think of cornbread.... I've been making cornbread since I was 16 and I'm now 67...everyone has their own variation but buttermilk is a must...I use self raising meal and flour...I also use bacon grease instead of oil..put a couple dollops in the pan and put it in the oven while it's pre heating...by the time you mix your batter it's all ready to go...Mrs Tali that's a mighty fine looking psn of cornbread...yummy

I love some cornbread! Yep, you gotta have the cast iron skillet really hot when you pour the batter in...love to hear the sizzle! I like to put me a slice in buttermilk, that's what we called "chunk-in" here in Central VA. You sure did tease me saying, you smell it, shoot I almost did smell it! lol Thanks for your videos! Thank you for this video, I believe I now know what the problem has been with all the recipes I have made that just didn’t appease my WV mountain man’s taste buds…I have never made it with butter milk or melted butter! So tomorrow night for supper he is going to have a feed of the real McCoy! 😉. I had him to sit with me and watch you make it and when you said, “can you smell it?” He lunged forward in his chair with a big old smile on his face and said, “yes and I can taste it too!” Here is hoping that smile is cornbread permanent!

Yep I love me some cornbread ! If you’ve never tried it cornbread is delicious with tomato soup also ! I love cornbread with beans , greens , soup , really with anything ! I love to take a slice and cut it open and fry it in about 1/4,inch of hot oil and get it crispy all over It’s so yummy , as kids we would eat it with ketchup on it 😁!!

I've always made cornbread in a glass casserole dish.. does taste better cooked in a cast iron skillet just curious if it's better in a cast iron skillet as well

@@lindabaumwart9380 I think so but if you get your glass dish hot in the oven with the oil and sprinkle of cornmeal, it would be my next choice if I didn’t have cast iron!… Glass cooks hot and even, so it works just fine!😊😊😊
