Test bed press made out of recycled parts and one new 12 ton Air Hydraulic Bottle Jack.
www.harborfreig...
Compresses from 6 x 6 x 12 to 3 x 6 x 12. First test run produced 3 blocks in about 6 minutes. Should be able to press out 250-300 per day.

The top lead need to make some how that at least 1/4 inch to go inside the die, then the extra material or edges will not develop. you can stick a thin layer plywood or hard wood for this purpose, even you can add symbol on the top cover. but good idea,

How do you ensure all bricks stay the same height? Surely there must be times when you put in the dirt, having less density than another batch, letting the machine compress the brick to a smaller size or is there a trick to it? A stopper built in?

If the machine is improved it can make 1block in less than 4 minutes. 5 blocks in 20 minutes, 30 blocks an hour. 240 in 8 hours. If you improve the machine further maybe 400 to 500 blocks a day. Depending on the machine. 1 week of work 3500 blocks ins. Week?

@teardroptrailers 10 жыл бұрын
The bricks are a little brittle when they first come out of the press, so I pull them out with the plywood base plate and set them on the floor on edge. They will harden some overnight and fully harden in about a week. They have been stacked outside for 5 months through a lot of rain and look great!!! I used VCarvePro to draw it up.

WTF. At this rate, how many bricks do you expect to produce in a day?
@teardroptrailers
@teardroptrailers 8 жыл бұрын
As above, First test run produced 3 blocks in 6 minutes, 250-300 per day. One every 3 mins. 20 and hour, 160 in 8 hours if you slack? It's just a testing of a design idea with very little monetary input. The idea was to put something workable together out of scrap material and readily available parts as cheaply as possible. To replace the muscle needed of a Cinva ram with a hydraulic jack (as I have a back issue) It's a starting point. If production is what you are after, a hydraulic powered unit is the solution. I just finished a few designs for a powered unit I plan to build next year after I move to my new shop. Thanks for the comment, and watch for the new press, I think you will like it.

It looks very sandy. Proportions of earth used might need improvements. Ideal PSI 2500. Have the impression your jack is a cheap one. Probably pushing only 800 PSI. Borders are horrible, easy to fix issue. Great job for trying but it seems like you shouldn't be using those bricks unless for low wall pig pen. I would feel more confortable using polypropylene Earth bag system than those bricks if it is for a wall
@teardroptrailers
@teardroptrailers 4 жыл бұрын
Your assumptions are baseless. The sand/clay ratio is near perfect. PSI is 24,000. Whats wrong with the borders? 6 1/2 years later and NO deterioration of the blocks. Enjoy your polypropylene earth bag pig pen.
@albertalbert7958
@albertalbert7958 4 жыл бұрын
@@teardroptrailers PSI is not 24000. That is probably the force used. You need to divide that by the square inches. If your block is 7×4 inches would be 24k dividen by 28 which is 857.1 psi. You would need 70k lb of force for 28 square inches to get 2500 psi. 24000 psi would be way too much. Too much compression make it too hard so it become more fragile, like glass. Not all earth is good for earth blocks. And you need earth from a few feet underground to avoid organic material. You should use a 10% of cement, or at least 5 % for stabilization. To fix the edge issue you would need an extra piece welded to the lid to force the earth inside with round edges. I admire your determination. My hat off to u. Thanks for answering. Didn't meant to offend u. Just commenting for viewers to learn. God bless.
