Well done, Kind of a "steam punk" idea , with a few machine shop cutouts (hydro jet spool) I bet you could have a small hobby business. STEAM PUNK REELS, art and function while on the river.

This is impressive and inspiring. I have sent it to two of my friends and I think we will all be building one based on your design. Thank you for sharing!

It is a thing of beauty, amazing innovative use of materials and a triumph considering you didn’t have a mill, lathe or a rotary indexing table. I’ve got all those things and three 5mm thick by 100mm Aluminium plates, I’m hoping that I can create something even close to your superlative reel.💪💪💪😛♥️♥️♥️

Hi brizzx32, thanks for the engineering thoughts. As a centre pin reel, low starting torque is a key parameter to handle the lightest current - I tried to show this at ~1' in the video. I did not check any bearings from a skate board but doubt they would be precisely made to compare with bearings from a VCR.

I bought my rod from Basspro. I think any 10~12' long rod would be good enough to enjoy float fishing in rivers. My 13' in 2 pieces is a bit inconvenience when moving around.

Hi Zaza. I use Browning Six Rivers 13', plus an 8' with heavy lines for fishing in trees. The rod in this video is the 8' to demonstrate that the reel is good for any standard rod seats. I built the 8' with two broken rods - the tip was a 12', and the blank was a 6.6'.

You are a very resourceful person and can think well out of the box. Are you an engineer?

The second song is Romance De Amor. I recorded these two songs in 1992 - made many mistakes in it but I love it since it carried a lot of memories :)

I don't know what I'm more impressed by the reel or your production / recording of music as a musician I am very impressed.. you didn't write the songs as well did you ?

If we are using wheels now then a skate board reel can probably be done also and alot faster, looks like all you need is a fixed bearing on a wheel object.

Great job! May I ask what kind of rod did you use; does it need to be dedicated float rod?

To th efellow that asked yo uto make one for you - I'm sure it takes a lot of effort. There are some English centerpin reels on sale at Ebay for about $50 US dollars. I bought one called a Cyprinus Monarch and it cost just $60 with shipping for England.

I got it from homedepot. Your local plumbing stores might have it as well.
