ZERO WASTE HOMEMADE COFFEE LIQUEUR 🍸 ☕️
Not sure what to do with used coffee grounds? ♻️
This zero waste coffee liqueur is incredibly easy to make; waste coffee grounds, sugar and vodka.
A liqueur that is an excellent seasonal drink you can enjoy on the rocks, in many delicious cocktails or give away as tasty gift. 🎁
Waste coffee grounds are packed with oils and moisture and even after the first brewing process is completed, its oils help preserve a deep coffee flavour you can use once again.
Coffee and alcohol are two of the best beverages on the planet, so combining them is just common sense.
We’ve learned that the quality of the vodka determines the outcome of the liqueur, so @discardedspirits Grape Skin Vodka is the perfect zero waste and quality ingredient to use.
We recommend storing it in a cool dark area (a pantry is perfect) in a sealed jar or bottle. It will stay good indefinitely.
INGREDIENTS:
250g Spent Coffee Grounds
250g Sugar
250ml Boiling Water
100g Discarded Grape Skin Vodka
METHOD:
⁃Take your old coffee grounds and mix with the sugar
⁃Set aside to macerate for 24 hours, stirring the mixture a few times throughout the process (this will agitate the sugars and encourage the sugar to melt faster).
⁃Uncover your coffee-sugar mixture, it should look quite wet as the sugar will have melted and formed a syrup with the coffee.
⁃Add the boiling water
⁃Using a fine mesh sieve or a coffee filter, strain the mixture (this might taker a while).
⁃Add in 100g of Discarded’s Grape Skin Vodka
