Homemade Corn Planter

Couldn't justify the price I was seeing for very old used single row planters, so I decided to build my own. Between the time of this video and the actual working video of the unit I had to come up with a new seed wheel and modify the seed chamber, but it worked great after that. Working video coming soon!

Sweet corn likes a 36 inch row. And 10 inch minimum, 12 inch maximum seed spacing. Another thing is your seed tube that delivers it to the furrow is into a direct path you'll have really uneven and speratic spacing. But good on your for your goal of making a home made job!

While the row spacing may not be ideal, the unit did work very well and I couldn't have asked for the seed spacing to have been any better. There is still room for some tweaking this season, but over all I'm quite pleased and excited to try using it for soybeans.

Michael Caldwell what tweaks do you think it needs? I want to replicate this and use a 3D printer to make “seed plates” - a larger for corn and then try a smaller one for tiny seeds.

I want to make similar to it. I have a precision planting corn meter and want to fit it on hand pushed seeder how to do that?
