Homemade DIY 12ft Styrofoam fishing Kayak ep8

That stuff is amazing. I'm doing a boat with it. I plan on three good coats of glue sanded between coats. That gives it a nice smooth finish like fiberglass and strong too! The inside with just be two coats of glue to waterproof it, then two coats of paint. I'm using Titebond 3 because it is water proof. Titebond 2 is only water resistant, so I don't want to risk it.

Good fun build but if you overlap your fabric around the edges by only an inch you will increase the rigidity immensely. I look forward to your progress. Thanks for the upload.

A second coat of a much finer cloth can also be done to give a smoother finish... like a bed sheet...just use a good latex paint instead of the glue...

on the bottom (the green color) I used burlap and on the top (white color) I used canvas drop cloth, painters use that to cover the floor when the paint walls and for the glue I used Titebond II premium Wood Glue its water resistant

What is the difference between the white and green burlap if any?

the green is burlap and the white is canvas the different is in the fabric and weave, burlap is wider in weaves and stronger that why I put it on the bottom.

for gluing the Styrofoam I used PL 300 and for the canvas and burlap titeboond 2 wood glue

You're not supposed to use wood glue, you're supposed to use resin that's specifically made for fiberglass! Lol. I sure hope it doesn't come apart on you out in the middle of the water! Lol

Titebond II premium wood glue is water resistant, that what people use for the poor mans fiberglass. people use it on campers, boats, canoes and kayaks to make it waterproof. I did a lot of research and they had no issues.
