This reminds me of what my Grandpa would always tell me... "Don't throw that away, you might need that someday"... Those words have saved me a lot of headaches... but also, leads to a lot of "stuff" in my barn. :)

Well at least you have your grandpa to blame for having a lot of junk in the barn. I’m the same way. I’m trying to put it all together though so I can find it. There’s nothing like spending a half a day looking for something when you could run to town and probably buy it for not a whole lot of money. I made you a video on that sometime Wayne. It’ll get you down the road, actually probably last forever. But on a vehicle they don’t look the best. But equipment no one really cares. “There’s nothing more permanent than a temporary fix.“ 😉

You may know this, but one of the many things I learned in the Army is how to put an extremely heavy tire back on an axle. If you sit on the ground facing the axle with the wheel between your legs, you can easily pick up even a heavy wheel by squeezing your legs together and lifting the tire. The tire will be around your knees and you can hold it steady with just your legs, allowing you to use your hands to align the lug nut bolts to the wheel, and then screw on the lug nuts. You will also be able to see the alignment since the axle is almost eye level. It might help you in the future putting tires on, especially if they are heavy. Thank you for this videos. It is nice learning new tricks from a fellow rancher across the country.
@BacktotheBasics1015 жыл бұрын
I will do that next time, I often use the trick where you use your toes to live the tire and you can move the hub. But I’ve never thought of doing what you suggested. Awesome I will definitely try it next time. I didn’t want to be anywhere close to to it this time. It was slipping off the jack and I was ready to be out of there.😉 Thank you for the great tip Matt. Happy trails Luke

When you said what can you do about the missing dust cap, my first thought was one of the frozen orange juice cans would be about the right size to press in like the missing cap, except for tire replacement, you external cover over the whole hub is likely more way more secure. Thanks for explaining the coupling you put over the tire valve stem - I was going to ask what in the world that was all about. (I suppose if I was a farmer feeding cattle, I would not have had to ask :-) )
@BacktotheBasics1015 жыл бұрын
You’re smarter than I am had I not seen this trick before I wouldn’t of thought of the orange juice can probably. I know it’s interesting when a farmer or rancher comes to the place they immediately look at what I did to that room and they go ha ha why didn’t I do that years ago.
