I’m a quilt maker from Canada and was looking for an economical and natural laundry starch to starch my quilting fabrics prior to cutting and sewing to give them body... and I found it in this saree starching video. Thank you so much. Question... do you find insects are attracted to the starched clothes since you use flour? I am concerned about them possibly eating my quilts.
@SasiRekhaskitchen4 жыл бұрын
Hi I am not familiar with quilts but we starch our cotton sarees and keep in the closet for a long period of time. They never attract bugs or insects. After starching the fabric it should be dried completely, otherwise it will smell bad. I never saw any insects. However, since you are doing a large scale quilting, I would recommend you to do a test first. Thank you for watching my videos. Please share and subscribe. what is the ingrediant.. maida.. ?? my mother told to with boiled rice water.. can i do
@SasiRekhaskitchen8 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching my video. Maida is same as all purpose flour. In India it is called maida and in US it is called all purpose flour or plain white flour. Fabric starch can be made by many different ways. You can make with maida or corn flour or tapioca(Sabu dana) flour or rice flour. All purpose(maida) flour is the cheapest of all. I made a video on how to make with tapioca flour. Click here to watch...kzbin.info/www/bejne/rKDJfZisfcShm5Y You can also use the rice water that is separated from boiled rice. You have to be little careful to do this. Otherwise you may spill on your self. Other methods are much easier than this. Is this permanent or temporary? Thanks for the video
@SasiRekhaskitchen4 жыл бұрын
Of course it is temporary. The starch stiffness will be gone after wearing 2 or 3 times. Sorry for the delayed response. I overlooked. Thank you for watching my video. Please share and subscribe. Check out my website for more useful videos. www.sasirekhaskitchen.com

mam I make it but cloth on spot why?plz reply
@SasiRekhaskitchen6 жыл бұрын
1. Cook the starch water completely. 2. Strain the starch to remove any lumps. 3. Dip in the water thoroughly. Make sure you do all these.

Please can I dry with watching machine???
@SasiRekhaskitchen7 жыл бұрын
Hi, you can wash it in the washing machine but you have to dry it in the air, not in the dryer. The stiffness won't be there if you put it in the dryer. Thank you for watching. Please share. Is this good for just one saree ? Do I have to throw the water away after that? What if I want to put starch to more sarees?
@SasiRekhaskitchen6 жыл бұрын
You can dip a blouse or something smaller that doesn't need a lot of starch to it. If you dip a saree that starch may not be enough. Each saree approximately needs around 2 tbsps. or you can test it once to see how much exactly you need. Thank you for watching. Please share and subscribe. What to do if I want stiff sarees cos after ironing it doesnt stay very stiff. Any tip
@SasiRekhaskitchen5 жыл бұрын
Try not to iron the saree after starching. Just fold it nicely. You may like it. Let me know when you try. Thank you for watching my video. Please share and subscribe. Check out my website for more useful videos. www.sasirekhaskitchen.com
