Ingenuity has always been a motivating factor in the "where's there's a will... there's a way" thinking process. I believe you took that process to the next level with a Function Versus Form Catalyst. Because seriously... how many of us can really afford the 2- $3.000.oo 'Pro' faceting machines (raises hand and says; "Not I").

So, I'm attempting a SRB on an amethyst right now. That's a challenge, and this process is going to take alot of tinkering. I need a longer arbor attachment into the flex shaft some how, but, I have some faith that this can work. I'll deffinitly be sharing more as I go

exellent video i am a machinist tool designer and toolmaker i also build faceting machines and repair them i give you a lot of credit by trying to make a faceting machine there is a lot of work involve into it , if i can help in any way please just ask there are also a lot of good deals of used faceting machines on ebay that you can get very cheap and repair them

Nice. Could you spring load something abrasive against the edge/rim of your lap disk, so that it wears itself into balance?

I'm not sure, Ive thought of a few similar solutions to that problem, I don't know how well that would work or how I would do it, but I will have to put it in the list for possible solutions

this is gonna sound dumb but how were you transferring the rotational force of the grinder to the wheel?

Not a dumb question at all. There is a piece of cable that's flexible but it's in the black cord. It's called a flex shaft, I just kinda made my own bit for the flex shaft
