I had a toenail fungus problem for a while. I kept the toe nail wet with vinegar. I carried a small dropped bottle with me and several times in the day I would put a drop on it. If I set down for a while, I put a piece of Kleenex on it and kept it wet. It took all summer, but it grew out nicely.

For some, baking soda alone is too harsh for the skin so I created a recipe using arrow root powder and essential oils. Now though all I use is either colloidal silver or colloidal copper.

Tea tree oil in lieu of oregano…also, my husband had to see a dermatologist for this same problem. Along with potential causes that you already mentioned, he recommended my husband go up a shoe size and or width. Apparently the pressure of the toe constantly against the shoe can aggravate the nail bed and contribute to nail infections. He also switched to wool socks and that helped tremendously. (He is usually barefoot at home, but not an option in the workplace.)

Heidi - having once used baking soda neat as deodorant in barely a couple weeks I started to itch. I had to immediately go online and in minutes found a plethora of info about using baking soda as deodorant and how the bicarb kills bacteria (hence why it works so well) but it kills off most of the bacteria - leaving the natural yeast (fungus) unchecked - and resulting in a yeast infection. Apparently that's almost always what happens though many people don't get the itching or other symptoms - but there's still a yeast infection. I've had to be very careful with bicarb and so, while I really hate to question you, and what you said about raising ph makes sense, I wonder if the baking soda is really helping or rather aggravating the problem? I've been fighting constant fungal infections on other areas of my skin and was using so much tea tree oil but in the long term it wasn't clearing it up for long - often just weeks and it would be back. I've recently been using powder and am finally getting clear. After a 7 year battle and the astronomical amount of essential oils I was using - so much that I'm starting to get concerned about my liver and kidneys - I'm shocked that just keeping it clean and dry has worked wonders. I'd love to hear your thoughts. On the subject of your toenail infection - did you get it cleared up? Thanks for sharing this and especially your experience with oregano oil.

@RainCountryHomestead5 жыл бұрын
Yes. The two things that have been working best are the foot soaks (the video I did yesterday) and the powder. The epsom salts in the foot soak softens the infected nail, breaking it up and thus making any treatment you add to it far more effective.

Thank goodness I thought it was just me suffered with athletes foot. Tend to find it coming back every time I work out and after I shower which I don't do so much as I'm not out and about all the time. I find drying them hard and we only get little tubes of lamisol that cost about £8 in the UK and only last a week. I find toilet paper between toes help dry them out but they get wet again pretty quickly.

You may be surprised to find out just how many people are dealing with toenail fungus and athlete's foot, it is crazy. Most simply will not talk about it because it is embarrassing. My guess is at least 50% of the people you meet are dealing with it in some form. at LEAST that many and likely more.

I just discovered your channel. So excited to discover all you have. I have been fighting fungus on toe nails for years and have tried everything. Do you have any suggestions for soaks of further treatment protocols?
@RainCountryHomestead3 жыл бұрын
This video is kind of old and while it helped, it never knocked it out completely for me. Epsom salt soaks do help break it down and one can add some antifungal herbs such as oregano to the soak but it take consistent repeating of the process. Right now I am using straight neem oil and am seeing the best results so far but still will not be able to say for certain for at least a month. Toenail fungus is VERY difficult to get rid of and even when one does find an effective remedy, it can take at least 2 months to really see a difference and it takes religious and regular application. Once I see definite positive results with the neem, I will be doing a video on that.

The vinegar spray, may be too acidic for the purpose of killing the fungus, you may be feeding the fungus with the vinegar wash. The fungus will die off in a base pH environment... just a suggestion. Otherwise you're going from an acidic environment to a basic environment, and they're competing each other, if that makes sense. The internal turpentine therapy has immensely helped any Candida overgrowth that I had... I even put small drops on a small rash I had.. in addition to taking it internally once a week..😊💕
@RainCountryHomestead5 жыл бұрын
Yes, I totally understand that fungus dies off in a high pH that is why baking soda is a good option. However, it will also die off in a high acid (or low pH). Clearly you would not want to use both baking soda and vinegar in the same remedy so that is why I am using the vinegar and not the baking soda. I have found that raising the acidity with the vinegar along with the foot powder (without the addition of baking soda) has been the most effective thus far, even over turpentine, which I have tried both internally and externally. I do actually have a video I did several months ago just on turpentine and its benefits and recommend that everyone keep some on hand as it has many benefits, however, it is not always going to work the same way for everyone in every situation. This is why I try to throw out several different ideas when making such videos. I did not think to mention the turpentine here but do mention its use for fungal infections in the turpentine video.

I had read about baking soda for fungal infections years ago out of a medical book so that is where I got the idea. I read that it has to have a balanced pH so either an acid like vinegar or a base like baking soda is suppose to kill it. Still working on the infection. The powder I made here was so far the best at getting it to recede but never totally killed it. I keep going back to the drawing board and am currently using a homemade cream with yarrow, thyme oil and some other herbs and oils I cannot remember. It is at least keeping it at bay so far.

My sister said that she uses 1 part Listerine (ingredients: mint 0.042%, thyme 0.064%, wintergreen 0.06%, eucalyptus 0.092%, 54 proof alcohol 26.9% and benzoic acid) 1 part Vinegar and one part Water as a soaking solution to get rid of fungus.
