Great design! John Deere makes a hydraulic version for the x series. I want to make something like it for my 318.

Great ingenuity! I assume you don't have hydraulics on the tractor. Years ago I built a snow plow for my ZTR and I didn't want to plumb into the Hydraulics so I went to Cabelas and bought 2 1500 lb winches for $100. Made brackets to mount them and used one for up and down and another for left and right with a pulley system. My neighbors were all old guys with Ford 7 8 9 Ns and that laughed at me, said my ZTR would never push snow. Well it is a Commercial Gravely that weighs 1182 lbs. With me and the engine over the rear wheels and 13 gallons of fuel (with chains) was plenty! I never even took off the deck and in 2 passes my 265' driveway was cleared in less than 5 minutes. I started up the street. We all live on 5 acre tracts so long driveways and most up a hill. I started at the first one while the first one was the top jockeying around at the pad/ I drove up plowing and waved, turned around and finished going down. Then on to the next. Never let anyone discourage you for thinking outside the box . You have a good idea and a tweak or two could have you golden! I saw buckets like you made that were hydraulic and didn't care for them. I built one for my restored JD 430 Diesel though along with a box blade and it is a beast! I will probably build a proper FEL to get height and power from 4 hydraulic cylinders this winter since the 1200 lb tractor is doing so well. Keep creating!

So I can fully remove the bucket by pulling the two pivot pins out at the top.

You made a leaving machine! In the fall you go around and rake all the leaves and pile them along the fence, then in the spring you get out your leaving machine and spread them all back over the lawn. Recycling gone wrong.

The bars underneath, just reinforce the front axle? How do they attach?

@@DougL12 ah ok, nice. I have a 3310V that I've adapted a bolens plow to, so I'll probably use that to do something like you've done. Great idea, clamshell bucket. Might try to use something to keep the latched part closed, like magnets or something, but we'll see.

Fur giggle 'n grins, check out "Scrap Metal Works" equivalent design @ kzbin.infovideos He spend HUNDREDS of hours (and dollars) building the same functionality, but electrically powered. Yay?
