Watch as My young children and I build a hotwheels dragstrip from a simple shelving board! Step-by-step instructions on how we did it! It was an amazing project to have so much interest from my kids and help. Little bit of a long video but the rewards are at the end!

Jessup Roerig, son of al roerig, what you are doing with your children (spending time and building with them) is the greatest gift ever. Can't imagine how much further I would be if I had this kind of parents

Man Rob, that’s the coolest thing EVER!!!! God I wish my boys weren’t grown. I miss this age so badly!!! Your such an amazing Dad Rob and your kids are so fortunate to have a Dad like you. We could see the joy and amazement on your face as they called out the ideas of what they thought they needed to complete the track. Simply awesome!!! Thank you so much for sharing these amazing moments with us.

We did kind of the same thing as kids with actual Hot Wheels track except we used gravity. We ran two lanes down the handrail to the basement and we used a pillow at the end to stop the cars. For a start we held a piece of cardboard on the top of the track and put the cars behind it and just lifted the cardboard for the start. We had lots of great fun on our "drag strip"

Man, that was such a great age with the kiddos! Totally agree that stuff like this is worth its weight in gold. It can't be repeated, it can't be purchased, and it leaves behind some awesome memories for all! Merry Christmas to you and your family, Rob! Thanks for taking us along for the ride!

Our car club holds Hot Wheels drag races twice a year. We have 8 classes.4 "stock" and 4 "modified" our next race will be March 20th. Last race we held. (before covid) We had 220 cars registered to race. Our track is 13.2 feet long. Get it? with a 3'tall starting ramp. And it's all just gravity. We do this as a fund raiser to help out a Homeless Veteran's home.Great fun for entire families in the middle of winter. We have a blast.

Thanks for sharing Rob. You have a very beautiful family and love the kids. I miss it now that the wife an me are older as we have 4 girls an sitting down an making things an playing games an what ever was so much fun. We are very proud of all of them as they have done very well in life an owning there on homes...great jobs. We have 9 yes 9 grandsons and I have had a bunch of fun with them also. The oldest is 19 an the youngest one is 9 so I still get to be a kid with the little ones lol. The girls grew up in a full size custom van pulling our race car all up an down the east coast racing dam near every weekend division 2. It was a lot of fun an great memories for sure as we are very close to this day. They all love racing to this day an even my son in laws love it also. You guys have a merry Christmas an stay safe an God bless. Hope to see you at Gainesville next year.

Being the dad of six (now adult) children. I'd had A LOT OF times like this. The ex-wife and the wife (more the ex. My wife didn't really mind SO much.) would cringe when the kids and I had been alone at the house or the shop for any length of time. Because they knew that shortly after they had left. All the "adults" had left the building. Obviously, I wouldn't allow them to get hurt of do really stupid things. But guaranteed at some point every model car or stuffed animal would be out on the floor. Their all grown up now and out of the house. My 2nd oldest just got married a month ago. Crazy how the time flies by. Seems just like yesterday him and I were in the driveway. I was working on the race car and he was working on his "Little Tykes". I remember coming out from under the car after he asked to barrow some tools. Figured I'd best see what he was up to. I found him intensity working on his car. Although it was upside-down. So I asked him, Son, what are you working on? He said, I'm working on the brakes. But son, your car is upside-down I said. No kidding, he looked at me with a rather serious look. "Yes, they're easier to get this way dad." It took everything I had to not start laughing. I looked at him and then his car. "Yeah son.....I think you're right. Don't forget to put the tools back where you got them. Looks like you're doing a great job. Don't forget to pump the brake pedal before ya drive off." I really miss those days!! As the man said "invest in your kids". Great stuff Rob!!! Thanks Wendland Family for the VIP treatment to the Wendland Invitational 😉
