You may be better trying an angular contact bearing in this application, the force is always going to be in axial direction. Try a 7XXX bearing.

I noticed that when you were polishing on the lathe, you had a long polishing strip in your hands. Try to keep the length much shorter. Long polishing strips can be very dangerous if they get tangled around the work or lathe chuck. Technically they can cause the lathe to pull you in. Very nice project and great video.

zits comes from retraction och layer shifts, the blobs are where the printer stops and starts print the outer most perimiter
@DktheWelder
@DktheWelder 2 жыл бұрын
O ok, how do you stop this? It hasn’t done it since but it seems to happen on a curved surface
@williamwestonn
@williamwestonn 2 жыл бұрын
There is no full fix, but getting better extrusion multiplyer and lowering the retraction amount will lower zits, sometimes it has to do with the material, but it could also be that you get a lot of pressure during the lifting between layer lifting. You could add coasting and minus extra restart after retraction in the travel or extrusion settings. Also mske them less visible by putting the layer starts and stops as a seam on the skarpest corner. That will make it less visual :) Search for "how to prevent blobs or zitz 3d printing" on youtube and you will have some good tips :)

You know, if you have access to or build a kiln/tempering oven. You can actually 3D print it out of metal. It's filament with metal powder in it, thus why you need to use oven. Have to melt the plastic out and get it hot enough to fuse the metal powder together. It's definitely not convenient, but still cool lol.

@@DktheWelder The few videos I've seen on it seem to show its pretty strong. Just have to take into account the shrinkage that occurs. I think you have to make it 10% bigger to account for that, if I remember correctly? I really want to try it out, could be amazing for making pew parts. You could also do cast parts as well. How people use Styrofoam or wax to make molds (lost foam/wax casting). You can also do it with PLA filament.

nice project again. Allready said it on facebook as wel. But if this thing works you could probably do a lost pla casting of the jet unit and have it from aluminium. Would be stronger and more durable. But for now testing with the 3d printed 1 is the way to go. Looking forward to actually testing it in the water. Also a thing to note is the intake angle. Having it scoop up water in to the jetpump can improve the performance. My jetboat has a bit of a scoop kind of thing on it as wel wich trys to direct water in to the pump if the boat is moving forward.

Nicely done! The "disease" on the 3D printed part is, I think where the lines start and stop for each layer. There is a setting to align them, I believe. I have an Ender 3 V2 which I've sliced models for with both the Creality Slicer and Cura and I've not had the pimplefest you have there so I'm not sure why that is. But I've seen videos on it. I find, in Cura, under "Walls" there is a setting for "Z Seam". You may have to monkey with settings to get this setting to be displayed. It may be that setting, or it may be another...but I'm pretty sure that the defects you're seeing are from Z axis seam alignment not being set.

I hate clever people like you! They make me look so dumb! Awesome project mate. Not sure if you are aware but waterjets work on flow. Using reducer nozzles won't do much for speed because water can't compress therefore wont speed up. A restricted nozzle may get your motor into the sweet spot of it's power range though and let you " Tune" it like that. For speed it may be worth looking at gearing up the engine with a belt or chain if it has the grunt. I thought of doing something like this for many years but do not have the skills even if I had the tools. Great watching some one that has both and look forward to seeing this run.
@DktheWelder
@DktheWelder 2 жыл бұрын
Haha thanks! Na tighter nozzle equals faster water speed but less volume like putting your finger over a hose . As for speed I can change the pitch of the impeller and just print another one, I tried the chain and sprocket deal on another one of my videos. I’m waiting on parts so testing it is a little way away thanks for watching!

I'm not sure but those zits on the backside are probably because you picked "random" for the layer transitions. That looks similar to a problem I had at one point. Try "aligned" next time you are doing a rounded surface. Slic3r has that problem but it appears to be more of a bug than poor development. Besides, when doing something that requires some level of precision, aligned is easier to clean up. (It is usually more noticeable though.)

Hello, I just discover channel today, check few vids, and one think disturb me. Probably for temporary test, but you have skill and tools, Tig, lathe, etc... Why not use 3d print to measure, test, and after choice, mold it in aluminium, for better durability. I know 3d filament could be strong,but if you eat wood or sand, it's done...became 3d...floats.... Except this point, the project could be excellent in results! I've not followed the first gen' but is the engine turn as fast as need to be efficient ? Turbine need speed, and a bit of torque for high pitch. Also need very tight adjust in tunnel. I've done few in different scale with metal, plastic , and both work depend on scale. So good luck and have fun Cheers from France 🇲🇫

Thanks, that’s pretty much what I am planning to do I can just keep printing parts to until I get an efficient setup and then use lost PLA to cast parts of just fabricate them. The motor I’m going to use will run between 8000-10000rpm

Hello, I find it great that you have managed to manufacture that turbo jet, are you manufacturing it as a hobby or do you intend to commercialize it? I would be very interested in it, I have a project for the sale of some boats, self-sustaining, to people with limited resources in the south of my country, I do not speak your language and that is why only writing, I can communicate with you, what value would you assign him to that job? What value would you assign for the wholesale purchase, we are talking about 20 units, if my business is successful, I could continue camping, I am from Santiago de Chile and the people are from the island of Chiloe, there they are very isolated and being electric, They can be self-sustaining by recharging photovoltaic panels, the values of prestigious brand motors are very high and their values do not go with the price I want to give to these people, it goes far beyond the budget for that expense that they have and I look for an alternative more economical, to reach them with a value within the reach of their budgets, waiting for a satisfactory response, I say goodbye very cordially, is there another way to connect? Email for example? Greetings.
