Homemade Lumber Hot Sauce Cooler Build! #6

Surviving Ringworm

Күн бұрын

Still in the Michigan wilderness, the two stooges get to work on more important projects than shelter, water or getting their tents out of the mud and snow. The hot sauce collection is getting rancid and something needs to be done immediately. With what is left of the chainsaw milled lumber pile, some bark scraps and the remnants of a failed swamp water collection project, Ryan bangs together a custom, 20 pound hot sauce cooler.
Does it work? A little bit!
How can one survive in the forest or homestead in style without proper hot sauce storage? These idiots wouldn't dream of trying to find out.
Spicy bush craft ice box baby!
Because I’ve gotten so many questions about the gear that I use on the channel, here are some of the most important pieces I use every day:
My Favorite Piece of Gear- Chainsaw Helmet amzn.to/3uuW5xB
Granberg Chainsaw Mill amzn.to/3cdRXvn
How I Keep the Mosquitoes Away! amzn.to/3frenvh

Thank you all so much for supporting this crazy endeavor! Without you folks donating to Surviving Ringworm, I wouldn't be able to even consider staying out here in the wilderness a second year making videos. You seriously blow my mind!

Maybe build a root cella a place to store parishable products or canned goods and on blazing hot days a place to cool off lioke ouir ancresters did before coolers and electricity and they harvesterd blocks of ice from lakes using chain saws an d keep the ice in a b arn covered with hey or straw for insulation. I saw one guy build acellar using burnt logs I thought waxs wierdc biut my guess for preserving the wood to keep it from rotting underground as swell as protect the swood from moisture he has you tube cabin building videos on you tube as well. Old school methods drilling holes and using dowels and wodden mallots. Interesting to watch a real craftsman at work

Isn’t down a couple of feet pretty cool? It is so cold there in winter, the ground must be cold underneath much much longer. I would dig a deep hole, put the (deeper) box down there on a few ropes and bury that hot sauce for storage.

That was a really cool idea. I hope it works. I know this is the past for you but it's the beginning for me. If it didn't work an idea would be to fig a deep 3 to four foot hole, put lightly charged boards to support the walls and then you could put your perishables down that hole, build a fancy lid if you like and there you have a nice dry cool box in the summer and freezer in the winter that shouldn't for any time soon

@@survivingringworm2202 Aha! Understand. Have the same problem here. Thinking about making some kind of soil and moss thing like a gamme. Gamme was a cave thing the sapmi people here made. It was dug down as far down in the ground as they could dig and then they made a round house with wood on top of that and covered it with moss and soil. Always cold inside. Will try that. :D
