Homemade Pellet Extruder Mark II for my 3 in 1 CNC / Low cost 3D Printing now possible

Hi, guys Welcome back to the channel. So this is my second attempt at making a pellet extruder. I am glad that I did this wrong first because there are so many things that I learned in this one that helps to improve the overall printing quality. Even still there are a lot of things that can be done to improve the overall design and make it lighter. In the upcoming months if I got access to the lathe then definitely give a 3rd attempt to make the final version which may be put to production so that people with small printers can also take the advantage of these pellet extruders. Try staging your pellets. Pre heat them before they get to the extruder screw.

nice work. How did you solve the plate adhesion problem?

I use abs slurry ( mixed in pure acetone )and that works perfectly. Sometimes extremely difficult to remove. So thicker the slurry is greater will be the admission force. This is what I noticed in my experiments

Price is 40rs. They have no specific number. You can call them locally made.

Well if chopped then you can use not as a wire.

the whole point of him doing this I imagine is to use pellets not filament rolls. this could be a few different advantages. first and foremost the pellets are un processed, so they should be cheaper. second they can be mixed ie you can make your own colors and blends. third you do not need the expense of a 'reel'.

Put this on a quantum delta and you'd have an extreme high speed printer.

But extruder motor itself have some limitations because of reduction ratio. Servo can increase the speed but didn't seems to have much of advantage with that printer either.

@@ambroscustom Is extrusion speed limited badly by motor rpm? What mm³/s rates can you get on it? 48V stepper drivers might be a solution cheaper than servos if this is the bottleneck. In terms of melt rate that thing looks like it should have nearly unlimited flow.

what's the diameter of the nozzle ?

The one shown in video is1mm but I also tried with 1.5mm with same print speed at 60mm/sec outer layer and first layer at 30mm/sec works good so far.

Appreciate your words brother, but the product is in prototyping stage. Need alot more refinement and reduce the weight to make it perfect. Hopefully make a batch pretty soon:)
