At its most basic, cooking means applying heat to food. Whether the food is baked, fried, sautéed, boiled, or grilled, it's all cooking.
People still cook some foods over an open flame, in addition to using tools like microwaves toasters, and stovetops.

When I was a child our family was dirt poor. Mom said at the end of the week, she had 1 big can of peaches and some flour. A woman with 3 kids came to our door for food one day , they were hungry. Mom brought them in the house , made flour and water pancakes and opened the peaches. Mom said she fed those 4, us 3 kids and mom from that food she made. The lady and kids thanked mom so much and left. Mom said she was worried there was no food in the house now and she started praying for a miracle. .Dad was working. When he got home, dad and mom started praying... It wasn't no time when my dad's 3 aunts came, with 3 bags of groceries. God does meet our needs when we are in need. My mom was the most giving person I have ever met...Over my life I have seen her many times feed people, give a woman her coat right off of her back, deliver to people bread products, free.... She was truly a Christian.

I was raised until 12 in Petoskey, Michigan. My mom bought the Chef Boyardee pizza in the cardboard box for us, too. We loved it as kids as we got to help make it. My mother was a fabulous Bohemian cook. Her whole family from way back emigrated from Bohemia and all the women were wonderful cooks and bakers. Books were written about some of them. I inherited the love of cooking and making something good out of practically nothing. I cook like you with whatever I have on hand. No running to the store all the time. I've made wonderful huge pizzas from scratch for my family of 3+ for years. Made my own sauce too. However I add the cheese on top of the cooled sauce and then I sauté all my veggies before adding to the top of my pizza. It gives a rich flavor to the whole thing. I bake it very hot towards the bottom of my oven where I have a large pizza stone that I bake it on. I build the pizza on parchment paper on the bake of a large cookie sheet, then slide it right onto to hot preheated pizza stone. Makes wonderful pizza. I'm so glad your pizza turned out for you. Great job for the first time making it!! 😊😊❤❤

@adriennef4637

@@rnupnorthbrrrsm6123 I dont measure anything anymore. But if I had to guess its: (makes 2 large deep dish) 2 cups Bread Flour 1 tbs. Baking Powder 1 pack Yeast 3/4+ cup Water 1/2+ cup Oil 1 tbs. Honey Pinch Salt Dissolve yeast in warm water, oil,& honey til it bubbles. Add flour, baking powder, & salt. Stir til it comes together with no dry patches. Cover, put in a warm place, & let rise 1 hour. Pour onto well floured surface & knead adding sprinkles of flour til it forms a cohesive ball. Oil your bowl & put dough in to rest. Oil the top of the dough too so it doesnt form a skin. Cover.I let it rise twice (1 hour) & punch it down. The trick is a lot of oil so it doesn't stick and comes out crispy on the outside like Pizza Hut. Preheat skillet in a 400°-425° oven & oil it very well. Pat in half the dough, top, & bake til your desired crispiness. You can brush the crust with butter, garlic, & parmesan for extra yum.

First of all, I want you to know that your cabbage casserole was a home run hit for Christmas. I made an organic heirloom ham from Porter Rd meats with my own calamondin marmalade glaze. The cabbage casserole was a perfect match for that noble piggy! I included buttermilk cornbread, home canned cranberry sauce and bacon sauteed green beans. The cabbage casserole is on permanent holiday rotation!

Looked good. You can lightly (very lightly) coat your pan with corn meal, oh my goodness, it’ll give your little crunch to outer crust. Yumo! My favorite is Chicken bacon ranch with banana peppers w/ white sauce. Get you a pizza paddle, then you can heat the cast iron pan while you’re getting pizza together. Makes a big difference. As you can tell. I love pizza. You can make pizzas also with flour tortillas, some are even gluten free. Our family will do this on fun food Friday nights. It’s actually pretty fun if you gotta cook on a Friday night 😊It’s too easy. Stay safe and God Bless P.S. I like the new pan! That was a good gift👍🏼

Dear Mama, I learned so much from you, and I know you've learned from everyone you've ever come into contact with. My favorite saying was always if you didn't learn something new today you better get back out there. Love you, see ya😁 your baby #5

I really like baked potato pizza. Instead of a tomato sauce base, use a sour cream base or French onion dip. One time all I had was cottage cheese. We just put it in a blender with spices to get it to the right consistency. You then add diced boiled potatoes, scallions, cheddar cheese and bacon.

We used to get that box pizza mix too. By the time we got all the toppings on and extra cheese, it was pretty tasty. Your pizza looks delicious as always. ❤

Put the sugar in the water and yeast and it will feed the yeast and make the dough better. I spent 6 years of my life making pizza dough for my job.

You can proof dough in your oven with just the oven light on. Will make it nice and warm without turning on the oven.
