Such impressive stats. I know that the Rao’s has quite a bit of olive oil, but that marinara is so delicious! A jar of Rao’s and some Giovanni Rana fresh pasta with some Arthur Avenue Italian bread is the 💣!

I make these at least 3 times a week! For me, these are PERFECT. It took me a few tries to make them how I wanted so that they would stay shut, get crispy, etc. If you make these and they don't turn out crispy try turning the oven up to 400 degrees! These are so wonderful because it's up to you how many you want! Sometimes I make 3 sometimes I make 6, and sometimes I make a batch for me and my boyfriend. Give this a try! Thank you so much for sharing your recipe,
@MindOverMunch10 жыл бұрын
Mayleen Mincher Yes!! I LOVE these! Your exactly right- you can make as many or few as you want so and they're so easy! Another tip is that you can make these ahead of time and freeze them! loving this vintage footage of you! hoping you're staying healthy in NYC (if you're still there). can you give me a quick fact list as to why to avoid sugar? i typically add 1 teaspoon of sugar in my make at home marinara cause it cuts the bracing acidity of the canned tomatoes.

haha so cool! I miss NYC so much, I'm in CA now :) I avoid added sugar as much as possible, but if that's the recipe you love then it's of course you're call! I've lightened up a lot on sugar over the years and am not as strict as I used to be.

Here in Germany we have to "pay" 1 euro for the shopping cart in every store! That's normal ;-) It's funny that the Aldi looks so similar to ours. @MindOverMunch11 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I store them in an AIR TIGHT plastic bag! You can't let air get to them or they dry out super quickly! I try to use mine up within a week or so. One thing you can do is stuff them with whatever it is you're making (bites, ravioli, etc) and then freeze them! You can also (supposedly) freeze entire packages but you have to let them thaw completely before using :)

Late to the party here but we made these a few times and we actually made a modification I think some of y'all might like. Instead of folding up the wrappers we tuck 'em into a muffin tin and spoon the filing into them and bake them that way. It's tasty but it's a little less time consuming and they take longer to eat so it slows you down a bit.

What is the difference between Wanton and Spring rolls?
@MindOverMunch9 жыл бұрын
Sara Joe wonton wrappers are much smaller in size, and are made of eggs, flour and water. spring rolls are just made of flour and water, no eggs :) they can be used interchangeably in most recipes, but you'd get very large pizza rolls for this one! :)

what do u think about the silver palate sauce? ??
@MindOverMunch8 жыл бұрын
I haven't personally tried silver palate sauce or come across it! Looking online, it seems to have some good options with no added sugars, and that are relatively low in fat, although some options to have fruit concentrates in them, which can be high in sugar! But I haven't checked these out myself so I can't say for sure! I will keep an eye out :) check out my video about pasta sauce if you'd like to learn more about making an informed choice, and then you can make an assessment of silver palate yourself! :) kzbin.info/www/bejne/bJ3JZauhfbyBibc
@thereaderbug3989 жыл бұрын
These look great, if not a little time consuming though. Could you do them and omit the sauce altogether? I am not a huge marinara fan. Would that make them healthier? I know that the pasta sauce has some nutritional value since it's made of tomatoes but I was wondering if it was a negligible amount. Thanks!
@MindOverMunch9 жыл бұрын
+thereaderbug The marinara isn't really the unhealthy part of these, it would more be cheese :) But these really aren't bad for you. They are a little meticulous but it's worth it in my opinion :)
@bettycooper39958 жыл бұрын
Just commented on Rao's being my go-to on a recent video! Never thought to check the fat, and olive oil in the ingredients didn't worry me since I add it to my homemade sauce as well. I love the Classico, but my picky family members won't go for it no matter how I try to jazz it up with spices and added veggies. Ah well...the price of convenience, amiright?

+Sam Prussic That's so strange they won't go for it! Classico is almost always a winner!

Love your videos! Have a question though. With how high pesticides are in certain tomatoes wouldn't you be more concerned about using an organic sauce instead of worrying about a little sugar?
@MindOverMunch8 жыл бұрын
+Brianna Wemken Thank you! Buying organic doesn't necessarily mean we're avoiding pesticides, unfortunately, but yes, if this is a concern of yours buying organic is a great choice :) The point of this episode wasn't to tell you which sauce to buy, but rather to show we need to be aware of labels :) Cheers!

Hi :-) These look so yummy! I have a question.... You used egg whites on the wrappers but I notice in your recipe it is not one of your ingredients, nor is it listed in the instructions.... what do the egg whites do? I'm guessing help brown them, but just curious.... have you made them without egg whites? Thanks!
@MindOverMunch8 жыл бұрын
+Deborah Rose Oh sorry about that! I will make sure it gets fixed, thanks for letting me know :) Yes, the egg wash helps to brown the wrappers :)

Pizza rolls are my BIGGEST comfort food. I have actually given it up completely, because I know they are so bad for me. But this video gives me hope! Thank you!

Verlynda Teague Yes! They are a classic but can be tough to fit into a healthy lifestyle. These help me enjoy them without feeling I have to miss out on something I love!! :) Thank you!
