Mmmmmmm cinnamon rolls on yeast dough. One of the best aromas humans can create. And the hearts are so cute. Because my Valentine has died I won't be heart-shaping the rolls, but I absolutely will try this recipe out! Using g-f flour 'course. Thanks Alyssia!

I like how your angel is right on spot! Can I use apple sauce instead of pumpkin puree?
@MindOverMunch10 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I haven't tried for this specific recipe, but often use apple sauce as a fat substitute so it may work! If you try let me know so I can pass along to others!!

Hey Alyssia, my name is Brooke. I'm a dietetic intern at Vanderbilt. I am creating an article for the staff on healthy baking substitutions (pumpkin replaces fat) and wanted to know if I could use your recipe for my article? I was going to email you, but there isn't an email provided! Let me know! I have made this recipe numerous times and I love it. Thanks, Brooke

any chance of getting a gluten-free bagel recipe? That would be awesome!! Haven't had a bagel in 7 years :(
@MindOverMunch9 жыл бұрын
gddss29 I wish! Healthy bagels in general are a tough one, but I'll brainstorm! I do know they have some gluten free bagels at the store, I think in the frozen section :) Thanks for the suggestion!

Would this recipe work with only wheat or oat flour? Thanks!
@MindOverMunch9 жыл бұрын
celeste semler I recommend using a blend- only whole wheat will yield a very gummy consistency and I've found it doesn't become as doughy with only oat flour. Only all purpose will work, but I like to blend it with wheat &/or oat to add nutrition :)

Alyssia, does the oat flour have a special role? I'm not into oats, and I can't buy oat flour around here, so may I just use more whole wheat flour or substitute oat flour with almond flour? Cinnamon rolls are among my favorite sweets, and I'd really love to find a lower calories version. Thanks!
@MindOverMunch7 жыл бұрын
The oat flour can just be a more fuel-filled choice, and it also gives these a bit of a softer texture! You could substitute for another flour, or you can very easily make your own oat flour! Just grind up some oats - they won't taste like oats at all :) almond flour may be a bit too dense for this recipe, but a wheat flour might work! kzbin.info/www/bejne/povNkIV6e8aMbdk

I will give it a try! I love cinnamon rolls! I have been doing so well, eating clean food for 5 months, and yesterday I fell of the wagon and had a Starbucks cinnamon roll!!! Processed white flour and sugar! 🙊 It was yummy, but now I'm on my way to the gym...

Can you let the dough sit longer than 20 minutes? Like over night? I'm trying to see if I could make the dough and night and cook them in the morning before school.
@MindOverMunch9 жыл бұрын
emilysimply Because this dough is made with rapid rise yeast it shouldn't sit longer than the 20-30 minutes. The recipe would have to be revised to sit overnight. I have made them and reheated them in the microwave though and they're tasty! :)

Can I make the dough with all purpose gluten free and oat flour? And can I substitute the whole egg for egg whites?
@MindOverMunch9 жыл бұрын
+Gabriela Michelle Yes! AP GF flour will work with oat flour :) I am not confident in subbing the whole egg for whites, though. I'd suggest keeping the whole eggs to ensure success.

Not to be rude or anything (definitely not my intention!), I was just wondering if you had read all the latest health investigations... Fat (when gotten from good quality, organic, grass fed beef, butter, eggs, and cheese) is actually necessary for your cell regeneration and brain. Also, those cooking sprays (many contain hydrogenated oils such as canola, and nasty chemicals which are just horrible) are really bad... Low fat is just a term that a man in the 50's said was better for you than full fat, and that hypothesis has NEVER been proven. I just wanted for you to be aware of these different points of view... Thank you if you took the time to read this! I would like to hear your opinions on this!
@MindOverMunch10 жыл бұрын
JazCubilla Thanks for your feedback! Yes, I'm a huge advocate of including healthy fats in your diet, even saturated fat. However, I still promote moderation with fat, especially with foods that offer less nutrition overall, which is why I develop recipes such as this and other lower fat desserts. If people limited themselves to one cinnamon roll every once in a while- go ahead and enjoy the regular variations! But if you're looking for a more nutritious option that you can indulge in a little more, I offer the lower fat and calorie variation. While fat is necessary in a healthy balanced diet, it's still true that if you consume more calories than your body needs, weight will be gained. Because fat has more calories per gram than protein or carbohydrates, we must watch our indulgent fat intake to make sure we aren't consuming too many calories overall :) Thanks for being so polite in your request and comment! I really appreciate it!
