********** WELCOME to our KZbin channel at Centennial Roots! While hesitant about leaving our home behind now two years ago, I was thrilled with the prospect of bringing the Robertson Century Farm back to life. The house, with its orange shag carpet and green linoleum, had sat empty for 12 years. Empty of people anyway. The house was still completely full as if the grandparents would walk back in any day. The farm was beginning to show signs of neglect - downed fences, rusted tools, and more wasp nests than you could count. The family had kept it in great condition considering they also had farms and families of their own. But we knew it would be a “roll up your sleeves” kind of endeavor. What we discovered was well worth the task. So much history was stocked away in corners and closets and barns and basements. We have learned so much about the last 165 years since the family originally homesteaded this land, and we plan to share the past journeys, present activities and future plans with you as we make our way through this new but old life. Welcome to Centennial Roots Homestead. Reviving and sharing the old-fashioned ways of life on the homestead from pasture and garden to farmhouse and kitchen. Join us here and in hands-on workshops! While I have been "homesteading": canning, gardening, cooking, and more my whole life the family century farm has given us a great opportunity to share our knowledge with others.
We hope you'll subscribe & become a part of our KZbin family! 🔔 Hit the bell to never miss a video! Thank you so much for visiting!

Thank you for this great potato soup recipe! This recipe is great for me since I don’t use milk also I’ve never seen such a great carrot shredder! Canuary is almost over so I want to thank Leisa and 4 jars for putting together canuary!

Love the shredder! I'm always looking for tools that don't need electricity. Thanks for the video. I have avoided canning potato soup because I like the creamy cheesy soup. I just hadn't thought of canning it without the dairy and then adding it later when I cook it. 🤦🏼‍♀

Looks like you need to sharpen your knife! You really were struggling to chop the onions. I got an electric sharpener off of Amazon, recommended the best by America’s Test Kitchen and it really has made my chopping and cutting up meat a lot easier. Just a little advise lol….no complaint. Liked your video and am making it now. Thanks

@@maryjanenuskey3889 - thanks for watching. An electric knife is a great suggestion. I’ll have to look into that. Good luck with your soup. Hope you enjoy it.

Try lighting a candle when you chop onions. The flame will neutralize the onion gasses.

Most of the time, yes. I love a milk and cheese base to my soup. You certainly can just leave and eat as is with the broth base as well.
