When I'm using a controller with just a single pair of RCA outs, I'll run them into the RCA inputs on my monitor speaker, which has XLR outputs. So I get the benefits of an balanced output (with a little extra gain) and a monitor at the same time.

Love this now I know why I have that sound. Can you do 1 on the Mic feed back on DDJ REV1. No matter what volume I have it on I get distortion and feed back.

I have the opposite question. I can run an longish (20ft) xlr cable to a home stereo system, but I think I will need to connect to the system with RCA. Will a short xlr to rca cable work fine for this or will a box like you describe? Thanks for the the timely video.

20 ft unbalanced, you will hear radio interference for sure.

No I can an XLR 20 feet to the stereo system, then if I connected a short xlr to rca cable to connect to the system, would that prevent the inference?

Interesting video, I learned something today :). Wouldn't an external mixer do the same thing, with the added benefit of more headroom that comes with using an external mixer.

External mixer is the ideal setup; not the easiest thing to bring around compared to a tiny DI box.
