My oldest child is 47 there were no baby wipes back then. I just tore up squares of flannel or cut up tshirts and kept them in a container with water and a drop of mineral oil. This was before the essential oil craze so we used what we had. When we went in the car I just took two plastic bags one with wipes and one empty for the dirty wipes. People are afraid of their own waste but will go buy food that is raised and harvested in ways they would be shocked by.

I used cloth diapers whenever I ran out of disposable. When my second one came and I couldn't afford to buy any disposables and I wasn't going to fiddle with washing cloth diapers I said to him he was going to be potty trained. Right before his 3rd birthday, he was potty trained. Not so easy with my first one. Of course, nothing was easy with my daughter! God bless my children! I wished I had more when I was younger.

😁 when my daughter was little we didn't have money for convenience items like disposable diapers and wipes. I used cloth diapers and washcloths. Plus she was constantly getting contact dermatitis if items had chemicals in them. I always had to be cognizant of what touched her skin. If I was going somewhere I simply dampened several cloths in water and put in a Tupperware container, making sure to bring a grocery bag for dirty items. I also kept several dry cloths in the diaper bag in case I was in a hurry at some point and forgot the dampened ones

Your right. When we were children we played in the snow, rain, heat, cold and rarely got sick. Mom would say " wash your feet before you get in bed" we could run barefoot on rocks or gravel and it never bothered us. Man! How times have changed. Thank you Mrs. Rain for the fresh breath of air you are to many.😊

This is a great idea for whe going out and about .My first daughter was allergic to disposable diapers and any kind of wipe.At home What I simply did was to wash her bottom with warm water every time I changed her diaper and put some coconut oil afterwards. It was fast and effective. It saves the step on having to wash the wipes. Same think for adults just was your tush, a water bottle will do.

And that is a good option for people who would prefer that. To me, that would be more time consuming and more of a hassle than simply tossing the wipes in the wash all together like I do. This only needs to be done twice a week at most. The part that takes the longest is hanging them to dry and folding them but I still prefer doing that and have been doing it for so long, I think nothing of it :)

I used cloth diapers and made my own baby wipes when my children were babies. I don't have any grand babies yet. Someday. I had a different recipe for my wet wipes and did use paper towels. I like your recipe more. I will give that a try, when I need wet wipes. Thank you.

That's excellent info to help young Mom's, I remember the financial difficulties of young parents, this helps so much. We didn't have baby wipes when my babies were born, things have changed so much. I agree the germ phobia is too extreme, I'm thankful I raised my children in a wonderful era. Thank you sweet friend for helping others, blessings

I have two daughters that are expecting and I’m excited to try this. I am a little leery of lavender because I’ve read that it can mimic estrogen, but like you said I’ll look into it more. I got a laugh out of the end of the vid about over protecting our kids from the environment, excellent point and the proof is in their health! You’re making me a more resourceful grandma 😊

I am glad you pointed that out as that was a new one to me. I looked it up and found that tea tree is possibly the same. I have decided just to leave the oils out and have since just used mostly water with a little silver added. No oils at all but do keep the coconut oil on hand just in case

I've been making my own wipes for 22+ years. With all of the extra kiddos in my home, I don't use reusable. I cut a roll of bounty select-a-size paper towels in half and place them in a container to use from. I mix 1/2 Tbsp Aveeno Lavender baby soap, 1 Tbsp fractionated coconut oil & enough water to saturate the roll of towels. The soap I use has changed over the years as well as the amount of soap. The soap seems to help wipe off the greasy, tar-like BMs. I may switch to using the fabric wipes for wet bottoms though. I like the idea. I'm anxious to hear & see what you'll use if Jaxon ends up with a teething rash on his bottom. I'm looking into a lanolin-based homemade salve for my littles that experience that red, raw open wound type of rash. There's a product for horses, Corona Ointment, that one of my clients recommended & it's awesome stuff! I use it faithfully on those that are teething. Thanks for the wonderful idea of using fabric for wet wipes. I will try them for wet diapers to start. I don't think I'm ready to clean all of the different baby BMs out of fabric yet. Love & Light, friends!

Heidi, you're such a clever woman! I've been so busy I haven't had a chance to watch any of your videos lately! I've been doing the home virtual schooling for my grandson. It has been extremely stressful! And I had remembered that you and I think two other people mentioned homeschooling. I remember you mentioned a program but I can't remember the name of it and I don't even remember what video that was in. I wrote it down and can't find it. So if you could please put up that information again I would be so very grateful. They are shuffling my grandson from teacher to teacher back & forth because he's needing extra help and it's just not good at all. They will tell him well you can finish this work (that is half done) LATER, you need to go to miss Yadi Yadi class. So he comes in the middle of what the teacher is teaching, (missing the first half of the classwork) of what the teacher is teaching so he (doesn't get caught up) with them either. Then she says well, you can go back to miss yadi yadi's class and you can (make up this work later.) So he's missing half of that class it's insane and he's behind and stayed behind So after school, he's had up to five pages of homework that he didn't get finished and (btw he is 8 yrs old.) By the end of the day, he is not paying attention at all and that's where it's like a nightmare trying to get him to pay attention or sit still or anything on that level. To get one page done it can take up to an hour at times! He needs to be homeschool desperately. And I spoke to my daughter about this and I wanted to give her an example of some sort of program and I thought about you mentioning one of them that was a good one to check out. Something has to give! My grandson and I pray all day to just get through the day and if one of us says something negative, right then we have to thanks and praise the Lord and try to be positive! And it's not easy! Sometimes there are tears from both of us frustration is so bad!! I apologize for such a long message Heidi I guess it's just a lot of frustration! There are several videos that I want to look at that you put out and I haven't had the time. But I know they're there. So how do you have a very blessed and wonderful day and thank you for all of your creative and unbelievable things you do! You are truly you are truly amazing and so creative!

Heidi and Patrick God bless you both and thank you very much for sharing this video! I told my daughter about this homeschooling and how you have had experienced all aspects of it and then some. lol, The last couple of days she's had Abel while she's been home from work and she too, is so fed up with the school as well. I told her about you and Patrick and this video. And I'm going to send it to her so that Kayla and Mark can watch it. There is so much information in it and I know that they will truly appreciate it! I have watched half of it the other night and I'm going to finish watching it today I've been so busy I haven't been able to get to it! What I have seen is wonderful and it does not surprise me what a wonderful and amazing job both of you have done with your children homeschooling them. I believe my daughter will enjoy the other many things that you are so clever about I believe she is going to have her mind blown! So I want to thank you all again for sharing not only all of your talents and creativity but also how you've done things in your personal life and with your children. I'm very grateful and honored that you share those things with me and my family! God bless you both and your family and may the Lord always keep His hands upon you all!

I used a tiny drop of baby wash with water when my baby (who is now 30) was little. But now I would do colloidal silver with one drop of frankincense because frankincense is awesome on diaper rash.

You are such a GREAT gram. When my children were young I weekly boiled their small toys and disinfected everything like the item was being used in surgery. They never got sick, but WOW, they sure got sick as teens. A lesson learned that I now pass onto new moms.

Can I just say with the last toddler mostly potty trained, I am happy to have given away nearly all the cloth diaper supplies. I have kept some that were to worn out to respectably give away, but they are great for big spills or for getting the dog dry quickly. I used to keep a basket of wipes by every sink so I could just wet them with water and use.

A few questions. Are they sitting in a dry bucket or one with water. Do you rinse them before they go into the bucket to wait on the wash? Then do they just get popped in the wash or do you find they do better with a pre soak? Do you wash them on there own or just in with the rest of the regular laundry? I guess I'm looking for washing info as this would cover all the wipes and feminine products. Thanks for sharing all of your wonderful and creative solutions.
