Homemade Rock Crusher DIY Hand Powered, Crushes Gold Quartz Ore, Rock to Gravel Jaw Crusher

Here's a overview and demo of my homemade rock crusher. This will take about a 6" rock and crush it to gravel or finer. You can build one of these for under $100. All that's required is steel from the scrap yard, a welder, and angle grinder with cutting wheel.
This gets my gold quartz ore small enough to run in a hammer mill. The whole machine weighs ~200lbs and the hammer comes out, so that I can move the machine more easily in and out of my truck.

Thank you Jack! It was also suggested to me by a friend to place the crusher underneath a large branch of a tree or a beam and have a large spring tethered between the beam and the handle of the hammer, so that it takes a lot of the tension off of having to lift the hammer up every time, which is quite a workout. i.e. in the static position the hammer is lifted upward by the spring, and you pull it down to crush.

What did you with the hammer mill parts behind you? Hand crushing is fine if you are only testing, after along day running up and down hills, in and out for old mines. Hand crushing can get quiet Tuckering out. I’ve got a small hammer mill, would like to see if I could it make more efficient. It’s just has chain now, those actual parts are made for this kind of crushing. Great idea on your design 👍but I would use my jack hammer. But not everyone has one handy. That’s why I say great design.👍
