Yea i working on my phase convertor now . My dad left it to me alone with a lathe and bridge port mill . I also noticed the starting circuit on the pony motor does that also .i may at some point try to use a starting capacitor and remove the pony motor . My rpc is 7.5 hp.. i also thought that starting with a pony motor and then cutting power and then closing in the phase convertor might help limit inrush current. Will see how this work out . Thanks for the video

Yes the more you can get the convertor spinning the lower your inrush will be

Gday Adam, I’m looking forward to seeing how this is done, here in Australia to my understanding you have to get an licensed electrician to do anything with power, not aloud to play yourself which is a pain, things get expensive

Here you can do certain things as long as you get them inspected when you are done. My final version I will show with my 15hp motor will actually plug into the wall so that helps with a lot of that since it’s not hardwired in. I’ll show the plug in cord setup in the next video

Its kind of ironic, my career was as an industrial electrician. But you would roll your eyes if you seen howmy garage is wired. On the job I wouldnt so much as bend a rule, but in my garage...well lol
