@@kaylansdell7865 Hello there, thank you very much for watching my video. This video is over four years old and my equipment at the time I recorded it certainly was not the best. I had no idea so many awesome people would show up to watch this video, but I'm so thankful for everyone who's interested in the recipe. Unfortunately I can't do much to help the audio quality on this video now, but there is a link to my blog in the description box where you can go and print the full recipe so you can have a copy to read. You can always come back and watch this video tutorial if you need to. Thank you again for watching and commenting, and I hope you enjoy the homemade crackers!! 😊

my father used to make crackers when I was a kid. We seldom bought prepackaged food. we also made our own marshmallows , ketchup, mustard, mayo, ice cream, pancake syrup, won ton wrappers, pickles, pasta etc. and we even grew our own pop corn. I still prefer to make my own stuff from scratch so I can avoid all the other stuff they have to put in the store bought stuff, plus it tastes better and cost less.

OK, used butter instead of shortening with half tsp sesame oil. Rolled out to quarter inch thick and cut with 2-inch biscuit cutter. Pricked and sprinkled tops with furikake (seaweed and sesame seed rice seasoning). Got 28 crackers. Yummy results. Could've rolled them thinner, and will next time. Awesome recipe. Again, I really appreciate you sharing it.
@ALittleFishintheKitchen3 жыл бұрын
Hello Happy Baker Girl!! Oh wow, furikake seasoning sounds like a delicious topping for these homemade saltines, I've tried the everything-bagel seasoning and toasted sesame seeds as twists, and now we have to try that one! Thank you so much for all of your wonderful feedback on this video and recipe, it really means the world to me. I'm so happy to hear that you and your husband enjoyed the recipe!! I appreciate you very much, I hope you all have a wonderful week!! 🌸😊

I make everything from scratch, including daily bread, and I was just looking for a recipe for saltine crackers. The ones in the store, even those from Whole Foods, Natural Grocers etc., all have ingredients I don't want in my food. I'm going to change the shortening to coconut oil, though, so hopefully it'll work as well. Thank you!! :)

Can I use ready made pie crust to make crackers?
@ALittleFishintheKitchen2 жыл бұрын
Hi Howard, I can't say with certainty how they would turn out, because I've never used pie crust this exact way, but it would be a fun experiment! I do think pie crust would create a kind of cracker, but I would suggest rolling them out to a slightly thinner consistency before you cut them into squares. If you try it, I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on how it turns out! Thank you for watching and thanks for the comment!! 😊

Hi Donna! I have been told by others who have used this recipe that they have subbed in butter, lard or coconut oil with success to make the crackers! However, I have only made them the old-fashioned way as I do in this video with shortening, so I can't personally speak to those results.
