Hey I really like this! I have been mulling a cordless version of this. Like a unit that uses a couple of 80v batteries made by Kobalt, or similar. These are very adequate for lawn mowers, so.... I envision very very light construction and quietness, because I want to mow what is town property, and I don't want confrontations with passerby. Phragmites are invasive, and CT had a state funded thing to cut them down in tidal marshes, repeatedly, until they don't come back. They suspended the program a few years back because they hadn't funded it. Phrags completely crowd out all native plants where they grow, and actually they even crowd out wildlife. My comments are annoyingly long. Sorry

Maybe add a bushing at the fork end of the fulcrum at the blade. You'll beat that u shaped fork out of shape fast. Also bring your gear ratio down even more since those engines don't like running at idle all day. Also consider using a heavy cast iron in your drive system the added spinning weight will help not bog the engine

That's not bad design though. I would mount it on A mini pull behind trailer with A multi hitch set up on it to.

Looks like it works pretty good. I'm not all that much familiar with a sickle mower but watching this video and seeing the mass of that blade reciprocating back and forth I'm wondering if a counter weight would benefit it much? Would be interesting to experiment with it and see what could be contrived. When do you plan on mounting it on something and trying it out on grass?

It really is not worth admiring, because the matter is already finished, the machine and the shearing knife are ready. You only need to install it in an impractical way. Secondly, if we carry this machine on wheels, how can the farmer push it forward, it will become very heavy without self-pushing, the idea is a failure with my respect for you
