I'm a blacksmith that's 14 years old and from PA usa. I love your videos!!! I hope you have a happy holiday season! I work at a local farm show forging at a shop about 3 times a year and start my forge whenever I can. I've only been forging for 2 years. but I love it! I love the steel that you make, I have way too much trouble welding on my little coal forge! x )

Alec, I have been watching your videos since well forever and it has been great to see you grow up as a human but also a smith. Every time I watch one of your videos I just get that uncontrollable urge to go forge something your enthusiasm inspires me! I am in the process of establishing my shop and my life because I spent the majority of it being sick with Lyme disease but over time it has gotten better and my skills at the forge have grown thanks to your great spirit and hard working I can proudly say I am on my way. Thank you Alec greetings from Michigan and I hope to take one of your classes soon! Cheers

Once again, what a cool video! I love the different types of Damascus patterns you are producing! It looks like a very creative and fun process! One thing that I really like about your recent videos is the footage of the new forge. I love how it is kinda in slow mo, and you have a filter on that makes the flame of the forge look so cool! Can't wait for tomorrows video!

Hi Alec! Watching your videos recently has inspired me to start doing some forging. My brother has been making knives for a little while, so he has helped me with a lot of the basics, but I have a couple of questions for you: Firstoff, when you use the flat end of your hammer, how do you avoid leaving a mark in the metal if you don't hit it perfectly flat? Secondly, the anvil we use does not have a round horn. Do you have any ideas on how to evenly curve steel without a horn? I was thinking we might be able to use some kind of hardy hole tool... Keep up the great vids! -Jason Zevenbergen (Seattle, Washington, U.S.A.)

Hey Alec, I really enjoy watching your videos. I also wanted to make sure that you were planning on greasing those bearings since they don't appear to be caged aka sealed ball bearings and a bit of lubrication maintenance every few months is better than hunting for parts to those high dollar machines. I've never been around any machines like that before but I'd have to guess that they would have some grease fittings near most of their moving parts (pistons, axles, etc.). I'm hoping you just cleaned the bearings up for the sake of presentation in the video and filmed the dry fit portion of the process. I love your videos and would hate for you to have to have something expensive replaced when some quick lube maintenance could've prevented it. Keep up the good work!

With that small wheel does that mean evil hollow-grinds ?! I would DIG to see you do a damascus straight razor ! On that note. Go wet shaving! :P It's cheaper, much much! better and it goes to eleven! I wouldn't trade some of my straights for anything. Please consider making one Alec! If it's needed I'll volunteer to hone it ;) I'm just kidding, It's not certain I would be able to send it back. Straights with the American flag or Union Jack damascus would sell faster than you could imagine! especially the American wet shaving community is really big !

Good to see the new machinery coming into play again, Alec. Looks like the lathe and the mill are going to pay off well in the long run, even if it takes a while to see a profit in them. (But you already knew that... you haven't gotten this far by making foolish or uninformed business decisions.) To be honest, it actually occurred to me the other day, watching you talk about how much the bladesmithing side of things has caught your interest now, that you would probably be utilizing your newest toys before long to make some mods and upgrades to that belt sander. Guess I was right. Next? Well, a nice 8" or 10" wheel on there is really great for doing hollow grinds... LOL
