DIY is not having your own workshop. He has a big fat CNC machine to precut all the pieces. Good project, but not DIY for sure.
@ehrichweiss
@ehrichweiss 3 жыл бұрын
@@AlehandrosArhangelos so he shouldn't use a saw or anything else either since that's also technology that someone might not have at their house, right? Seriously, DIY = do it yourself and that's what he did, and you could replicate it yourself *without* using a CNC so it'd still be DIY for you too. You ought to get rid of that "too much technology doesn't mean it's DIY" nonsense because you will find that is a rabbit hole that you don't want to go down.

Thanks. I only purchased the heat pad and temperature controller. They where approx 60-70 usd. The rest (plywood and sheetrock) was some cutoffs. There are links in the video description for the parts I used

I use Sketchup for all my designing. I find it useful. I know most are migrating into Fusion 360, but it scares me a little. I do not use it enough to keep the knowledge alive. I have enough issues trying to remember special functions in Sketchup

I am considering it if the demand is large enough, but only a couple this far, so I doubt it. Sorry about that

Ok I get it. Do I at least get help on making the locking mechanism on the top of the press, a sketch or something. Thats the part I find most troublesome to reproduce. Can you vary the clamping pressure of the press? Is your design built that way? It would be great if had that feature.

Love the video, and while it proves that its doable I think you're at an advantage of being in the 5% that has a shop with a cnc to make the cuts that fast lol. I'd be years trying to get that with a jigsaw. But Again Great video to watch.

Of course a cnc is more accurate faster, but it CAN be done with other tools as well, but its a little more fiddly. Thanks for the kind feedback, and thanks for watching

Great job! I'm considering a custom T-shirt business in local but heat press is too expensive in Australia. So I was looking for a DIY heat press to make it myself and finally found your video. I wonder if you can share the plan. As you mentioned you are not building this fantastic machine for business so I ask you if there is a chance to get the plan. Many Thanks!
